Is there any place I can upload... say a "serial dump" file of communication between it and some propriety software (named SV83) ? I managed to create a serial sniffer cable, so if I have a place to upload it, then you guys could inspect and add support for it. Heck I think having a dedicated place to upload serial dumps would be great for reverse engineering efforts.

[chirp_users] Wouxun KG-UV6X, is it possible to unlock menu function?

Hello everyone. I was hoping you could help me out. I just received my Wouxun KG-UV6X. As expected it showed up with the keyboard locked. I have a MAC running on OSX 10.9.2. There were several references on the internet suggesting that Chirp can unlock the keyboard. I am using a USB cable that I have successfully worked with about 15 Wouxun UV3D's as well as a kenwood TH-F6, so I'm pretty darn sure my cable works. I was able to download from radio on my new UV6X and upload to radio a few frequencies that I need for work tomorrow (Safety/Rescue technician for a large exploration project). I am unable to unlock the menu feature on the radio. I was expecting to be able to click on the settings button in Chirp and access that option, and others, from there (similar to the KG-UV3D's I've programmed. However, when I click on the Settings button I get nothing but a blank screen. I tried to download the free software from the Wouxun site, but of course my OS does not support it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. rob

Yes you need a ground reference connection. Join the Data TX and RX together onto the data pin and it works. I made my own cable for the VX-5 and it works. [chirp_users] Homebrew cable for Baofeng UV-5R/Yaesu VX-7R based on CP2102 UART

Hi I have programming cables for the Baofeng UV-5R and a Yaesu VX-7R which I suspect are based on cloned Prolific chips and give me no end of trouble with Chirp (and VX Commander for the Yaesu) I spotted the Miklor website that gives information about building a cable for the Baofeng using a CP2102 USB/TTL UART. http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_Technical.php#progcable I was thinking that rather than soldering the cable for the Baofeng directly to the UART board I could put the board in a small box with a USB extension lead one side and with a 3.5mm stereo jack on the other. I would then terminate the programming lead for each radio with a 3.5mm plug wired appropriately. The Baofeng connections I can take from the Miklor website above but what would I need for the VX-7R? I found this pin out for the VX-7R http://www.kc8unj.com/pinout.jpg This seems to be similar to the Baofeng UV-3R (as shown on the Miklor page) but is a Ground connection required? 73 Mark GW7KDU Cardiff, UK

Good Folk, Went to site, saved all items there as .jpg but 150% unsure how to use to programme my UV-5R HT. Copied list off .jpg, as follows: chirp-daily-20140921.app.zip chirp-daily-20140921,tar.gz chirp-daily-20140921-installer.exe chirp-daily-20140921-win32.zip rpttool-0.3.tar.gz Now What??? El Spouse said I had to do this myself, he declines to AbetAid&Assist. I haven't had HT that worked since my IC2AT & advent of PL tones everywhere (we both had those, El Spouse just bought another) -- never used to drive nails with, but could've. Bought a Yaesu from local club mbr, but may not use it cuz El Spouse does. Ahh the pitfalls of using an archaic mailing list instead of a forum, no ability to search old posts effectively. I'm having an issue with CSV import. It seems that Chirp is using it's own interpretation. 1. Open Office and Excel both save CSV in formats that can not be imported which is not Chirps fault but I still have to deal with it. So, is there a list of settings and character encoding that actually work when saving from Open Office Calc? 2. Chirp seems to break the RFC 4180 ( http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4180 ) for CSV in that if you quote the header fields it breaks. Does that need to be reported as a bug? This is what I'm doing that I cannot seem to get to work. I have a Calc document with the repeaters for the state of Indiana. I export a chirp file to csv and open that in calc as explained here: http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/1251 Then I just copy and paste the fields into the chirp csv file and save. I get the no channels found error. I use sed to strip out any excess hidden characters and then try again and still I get the no channels error. I previously used CHIRP on my Windows 8.1 machine with my Baofeng UV-82. I uninstalled it for awhile. I recently reloaded the chirp-daily-20140921-installer-exe from the web site on my hard drive. I am unable to get the application to open with the latest install. Are there any suggestions for getting the program to open. Sent from Windows Mail

Need some info on downloading and programming the raspberry pi model B+.. got and old program from pi site and it works great on two of my handhelds but does not have provisions for the UV5.. Which program and how do you get it in and running.. There was some discussion a while back and I lost the email on that one.. Tks Bob W2IRI
