I'm sure that you're busy with d-rats and getting ready for Dayton, but I finally got back to working on getting Chirp working now that I have a need to move data from an ic-92 to an ic-91 :-) I snagged the source to 0.1.9 final and tried it both with my fink install and my darwin ports install. neither works, but they do both fail with the exact same error when I pick "Radio -> connect to an ic9x": a.show() Traceback (most recent call last): File "/Users/fligor/bin/chirp-0.1.9/chirpui/mainapp.py", line 430, in mh self.do_open9x(ic9x.IC9xRadioA) File "/Users/fligor/bin/chirp-0.1.9/chirpui/mainapp.py", line 123, in do_open9x rtype="ic9x") File "/Users/fligor/bin/chirp-0.1.9/chirpui/clone.py", line 70, in __init__ self.port = miscwidgets.make_choice(ports, True, ports[0]) IndexError: list index out of range I never get the dialog box that lets you choose your radio settings. I tried A B and B B, neither worked, and I did make sure the radio's main was on the "B" side. I even get the same message with the Apple's built in python using export PYTHONPATH=/opt/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages which worked for another user. It's good that they all fail the same way, it's annoying that they all fail :-) You'd previously thought you knew what this was and had planned on fixing it, I just got side tracked and never checked. Something about not knowing about a serial port and getting confused. as a work around, is there a config file I can stash somewhere that fills it in about the serial port to get me going? I couldn't find anything on the config file format at the wiki so that I could just make my own. Let me know if you also want to see this on trac as well. thanks, -debbie, N9DN

Hi, Just found Chirp and it looks great. I can download from my radio, but the upload fails with about 1/3 progress bar filled. I had a poke around and it looks like the '.img' file is a bit on the short side, and would need to be padded up to size. After I import an '.icf' and save it as an '.img'. [chirp_users] Just got CHIRP, And Hello!...

Hi All: First off I'm New to the Group and D-Star, So I wanted to say Hi. Second I had got the IC-92AD in here Monday following Dayton, and this was my First D-Star Radio and real Exposure to the System. The following Thursday I got the IC-2820H in for the home. When I ordered the HT I was told the software made a Big difference, so it was ordered, Same with the IC-2820. Well, I Ordered the RT SYSTEMS software and cable Combo, and still cant get the two to talk. I found CHIRP and it was working as quick as I could get it loaded on the PC. I'm a Mac OSX user and have worked with Linux in the past, but LOT of Radio ware needs PC's so I have a Small Notebook for such things. After reading the FAQ, I found I had to change one Setting in the 92AD and now it's working FB here. So THANKS!... Sure am looking forward to a Installable OSX version to happen, This would make my Day. Being new to the entire D-Star thing I'm still a bit confused on some of it but the CHIRP software and the programming help of it sure is a help!.. Jeff-N8NOE " Laissez Le Bon Temps Roulez " >

I have chirp reading/ from my radios, but I'm having a problem with CSV (and .CHIRP) file import. When I try to import a file created with Chirp's Save As function to a different radio I get the following error: "There was an error during import: ord() expected a character, but string of length 0 found" This file was exported from Chirp after a read of my IC-92. I've tried data exported from both Band A and Band B and the import always gives the same error. When I try to import a .chrip file (same source) it says something like "Schema not found." and then crashes. Any suggestions? -Mike -- Michael A. I have a 1529 cable. It works fine with the CS-2820 software, but does not clone the radio from Chirp. I am using a serial to usb changer, but it's worked with all my other radios (Yaesu VX's, K2, IC 746, etc). Yes, I do have the correct com port selected. Any suggestions? Thanks! Jim, WD9HBC

Okay, for the ARES group I work with I'm setting up their first data "go-box" and we got an Acer Aspire One netbook and a 91ad. I got the basics going yesterday and was going to use CHIRP to move my data from my 92ad to their 91ad (on windows since I can't get OSX to work). I had no problems (that I Can tell) reading in the data of the 92 and saving as .chirp files. when I tried to load it into the 91ad I got "Schema Error" (or something close to that). it didn't matter if it was band A or band B ( was trying to read and write to. It read the 91 or the 92 so I think basic com port part was working. Am I missing something here, or should I pull the debug log when I get home and file it on the trac system? thanks in advance for any help or ideas, -debbie, n9dn
