UV5RE+ firmware N5R-213 chirp-daily 20150814 Problem: radio is set to dual watch with no priority. radio set to slot A and receives RX on slot B radio then flips back to slot A to TX. Same happens if B slot is selected and picks up RX on slot A, it reverts to slot B to TX. New Baofeng uv-5r out of box, purchased Saturday 9/6 at hamfest from vendor. Installed chirp 4.1 and downloaded driver prolific, 7/31/2007, version 3.2.0.0. Device manager tells me it is working correctly. I can download from the radio and add the NOAA bands into the software. When I attempt to upload I receive an ERROR of unsupported firmware N5R3409BFP3-25. I previously installed chirp daily build for 8/15/2015 and got an error of wrong model selection of radio, there was only one uv-5r to choose from. Good Day, I have two models of Wouxon; the 2d and 6d. I am able to upload from both radios without any problems. I can download to the 2d with no problems either. The problem I am having is when I try to upload to the 6d, the pull down menus for radio selection is greyed out and is on the 1d. (not a problem with downloading to the 2d). I have a legit Baofeng usb cable with the 2 leds, I also have downloaded the latest version of Chirp, I have been able to program all of the Baofeng radios including the GT 3 model with the higher power after I found that you need to remove part of the side of the 2 prong end of the cable so it sits in correctly. Programming was successful after that with that model. The problem I am having is programming a Kenwood TH D7A/G radio. Leaving the usb cable in the same usb slot on my laptop using windows 8.1, and not removing it at any time, when I try to download the radio image it comes up with an error message can not open comm port 5, access is denied. This is the same port I use for programming the Baofeng radios. Also with the usb cable inserted in the Kenwood, it flashes PF 3 which indicates to program function 3 button. This radio shows up in the drop down programming box just before you attempt to download or upload. Any suggestions? I tried restarting the computer and other things with no results. Again I am using windows 8.1. Glenn

I haven’t used my Chirp app in over a year and I am trying to add a repeater to my BaoFeng BF-F8 channels. I was able to open the .img file and make the addition, but I am unable to either download or upload from or to the radio. My Chirp app says it’s 0.4.0 Do I need to upgrade Chirp? If so where and how? Or do I need to look for something else? Thanks, Whit

Is the plug your using that goes into the radio a screw in type? The VX6 uses a screw in type plug for the microphone / headset. The part of the body of the plug that is closest to the pin has threads on it. It's designed that way to help with the waterproof nature of the VX6. When I tried to plug in my generic plug (without the threads on the body) it would not go in far enough to make contact and would not communicate with the radio. I trimmed the plastic on the body of the plug next to the pin of the plug with wire cutters to make it smaller. It still was not small enough to just push the plug in, but I could then screw it in far enough until it made contact. Then the computer would communicate with the radio and I could use Chirp after that. I have been using Chirp for years with amateru radio HTs I have a new Icom IC-A24 which is an air band AM HT to carry as a backup in the cockpit should the radio or power fail and before startup. Is there any risk using the 3.5mm TRS tip used for Icom amateur HTs? Has anyone known of Chirp being used with Icom air band radios? I am thinking that sending the dump command should not brick a radio but it was purchased used and therefore has no warranty.

When I am attempting to download the contents from the my Yaesu VX6 into CHIRP while in the clone function ,I get an error message saying “an error has occurred” failed to communicate with the radio-no response from radio. I have been using chirp for years on my amateur band UV-3Rs but now I have received an Icom IC-A24 air band nav/com HT to replace my old air HT It looks like I will need a new USB-serial-3.5mm cable with TRS rather than TRRS perhaps a different pinout, ebay has them cheap The question is, can I even use chirp to program and clone the radio or does it use a different format than the amateur radios? Is there any risk trying to dump with chirp and the correct cable or do I need to run the official Icom software with WIne or virtualbox in Ubuntu?

All, I sent to developer as well but maybe ask here as well. I have a circa 2000 Icom IC-2800H with virtual box XP on OS X for CS2800.exe cloning software. I am sucessfully downloading to ubuntu KBOIQ on old MacBook Laptop (64 bit) and maybe older HP 1125nr Netbook. I have been able to get memory sized and names in browser with skip bits mapped. I also figured that the memory frequencies are really weird to see in browser as hex. portmon, ICF and screen capture of CS-2800 are completed. Also attempted same on Icom IC-V8 with CS-V8, portman but no success with Chirp detecting or fake outs. What I have learned is in code at end of message. What I haven't learned is how to display in Chirps UI or how to decipher Python flow. Where should I go from here ? Radio is NOT available for loan. Visits or local (01450, USA) mentors are welcome though. I am having a problem programming a couple of my local 70cm repeaters into my baofang UV5R. The problem is that I can access the repeater but although the repeater responds, as indicated by the green light being lit, I hear no audio. This is because R-CTCss is set to on. These two repeaters do not transmit a CTCss tone so I need to program R-CTCSS off on the radio but so far I have been unsuccessful in doing this! Manually loading the repeater into the radio it all works fine, just using a memory channel programmed with Chirp. It is just two repeaters that give probs. all others are OK. So question is how do I program the R-CTCss off for these two memory channels, but leave T-CTCss active of course. Martin G3ZQU.

Have received 3 UV-82 with firmware version N822411N822411. Downloaded from radio the programming template. Entered tones freqs and other info try to up load to radios the new img. image and it says radio model not detected, then I manually enter that it’s a UV-82 and still try to upload to radio and as soon as I do it says firmware not supported. I’ve loaded daily build from yesterday have done a recovery which I think is not need for the 82 and still no luck. Even went so far as to reload the driver program. Not sure what this has done now. I see Pofung is now Baofeng again on units I received. Any help appreciated.

Hello, All... I have the above radio and I'm trying to get CHIRP 0.3.1 on Linux to connect to the radio. I'm using an USB cable that shows up as ttyUSB0. I have noticed that no matter how I program my Baofeng UV-5RA (CHIRP, Baofeng Software, manual programming from the radio's keyboard) the offset will reset to 000.000 and not keep the programmed offset of 000.600. THANKS Chirp developers! In the past few days, I have programmed 4 Baofeng UV5R radios of various vintage, a Kenwood TH-F6, a Yaesu VX-8GR, and Wouxun KG-UV8D and KG-UVD1P radios using Chirp latest daily build. (20150702). I found 4 generic programming cables in my programming box, all apparently Prolific chipped or clones, all worked. All the cable chips were identified as Prolific by Windows or by Linux. I have used Windows 7 on an Asus laptop, Windows 7 running in Virtual Box on a MacBook Pro, Kubuntu running in Virtual Box on the MacBook Pro, and Ubuntu 14.04 running on an HP Spirit 13 (I dumped Win 8) to do the programming. Chirp just worked on all of that hardware and different operating systems. I briefly tried to get Chirp going native on the MacBook Pro, but didn’t spend the time as Chirp was working great on the Mac in Virtual Box. Things I learned: plug in the programming cable after Chirp is running; and you have to find the correct port that the programming cable is on. Chirp just works!!! THANKS! THANKS!! THANKS!!! Does anybody know if it is likely to be possible to program options not available through the interface? I have a pair of Baofeng GT-3TP (basically the UV-5R). I want to run 9600 baud packet over them and have found that in the RDA1846 chip: http://www.uv3r.com/images/Schematic-Baofeng-UV5R.pdf there is an option to turn off filtering and pre/de-emphasis. Set register 58 to 023B My current option for doing this is to physically hack into the serial bus, insert a switching chip and use a raspberry pi to switch control away from the radio's onboard microcontroller chip to the raspberry pi serial GPIOs, program this option into the RDA1846 and then switch back control to the radio. Pretty heavy work for something that might be possible in software by programming the onboard controller (using CHIRP). Any guidance very much appreciated. You won't find many receivers that are "good enough" to handle that spacing with both frequencies being used so close together. If this is just an issue with it interfering with your personal scanning pleasure, that's just life; but IF those frequencies are both being used by the same agency, it was very poor planning on the part of whoever decided to use THOSE specific frequencies from among all the frequencies and separate licenses that the county holds. Those frequencies are on two completely different licenses, which were almost certainly originally meant to be two different agencies. I seem to now have CHIRP programming issues worked out finally!... but now I have another issue! While monitoring a service on 453.5625 I get bleed over from a service on 453.5500. I have entries set for NFN (narrow FM), Any ideas from anyone? Setting or bad radio?? Greetings all, I am a new Ham with a 40 year background in all things electronic. I just picked up new 3 BF-F8+ radios and ended up having to send one back (couldn't program via cable). The replacement came in with different firmware -GRRR!- and an odd/invalid/strange entry in the ABR menu. See attached pic -I hope it is permitted. I can change value to off through 10 using keypad. From that point the odd character goes away 'till the next time I program with Chip to any value above 10. Above 10 the odd character comes back. Chirp allows 0 to 24 as usual and programs without protest for any value 0 - 24 but cant get actual time to go past 10. Any time less than 10 is handled correctly as expected. I reset radio, changed language back to English and then tried to set backlight beyond 10 seconds with no success. Used CHIRP daily-20150702 and an earlier build with same results. Also, the radio type selected was the UV-5R. If the radio had a 'normal' display this would be less an issue but with the inverse display it pushes the usability close to the edge in a negative way! Has anyone seen this behavior? Have I missed a step? Should I consider this a defect and try AGAIN for an exchange? 73 Peter KC3FBB

Howdy! I naively purchased a 2015 Baofeng UV-6R as my first radio and have found chirp (Chirp? CHIRP? C.H.I.R.P.?) to not support the radio, which makes programming it from my Mac somewhat problematic. I've scoured the Internet and reached out to as many folks as I could find to see if they had it working, and it appears the 2015 release of the radio just doesn't work with chirp today. I'd like to help fix that. I was a (Java and PL/SQL) developer in a past life and can hack on Python code when I have to. Is there a guide available that describes how to start porting another radio, or is there a developer who is interested in working with me on this? I have a new BF-F8+ and I am having a problem I can't find an answer for. When attempting to program in a repeater with a 5Mhz "+" offset, the radio displays "+-" Any idea what I may be doing wrong? I'm still not sure what you mean. You do get to Device Manager via Control Panel and you can only see Com ports in the Device Manager. However, we are past that now and it is either the cable or the radio. At this point, maybe someone can help you with the radio you are trying to program. Does it have to be forced into a programming mode? Hi Jeremy One of the key parts is that you have to know 100% which serial port the radio is connected to. Chirp is not able to figure this out on it own. It has to 100% be sure that if the radio is on the USB RS232 adapter that is labeled as Com 14, that you use that port and that port only. Otherwise, you will get the failure you are seeing. Assuming you are using Windows, can you see Port 14 in Control Panel? If it isn't there, then Chirp won't be able to see it either. I would recommend that you watch control panel while plugging in and removing the USB adapter you are trying to use. This way you can confirm 100% that it is com 14. It should come and go from control panel. You may want to also clean up the previous 13 that you may or may not be using. (Failed to communicate with the radio: Unable to communicate with the radio) My radio is currently Port 14 - however this does not show up in the list in CHIRP. Even When I manually put it on port 3,4,5, no success. Same with TYT software, it seems like it ONLY wants port 3, however when I place on port 3, no success. Very frustrating. Hi, first of all, many thanks to Dan and the Developer for develop Chirp! The Idea and the result is great. So far as i can see, there is no specification given from Baofeng (and other) how the interface works. So you have to reenginer the data which comes over the serial port. I think, this take a lot of time to understand and to find a fitting memory structure. And, of course, there is a need for a given running software! Ok, my Problem is, i got a Pofung UV-6R, but it doesn work with Chirp. When I first put Yosemite on my late 2011 Macbook Pro, CHIRP continued to run fine to program my Baofeng UV-5R. Then for no apparent reason, since I didn't change anything, all I could get was "The radio did not respond." I am using the latest daily build of CHIRP. So then I went to the net to research Yosemite and drivers and found the Terminal command to allow unsigned drivers to load and the command to load the kext for the driver that had been working. This appeared to work for a while, I was able to download from radio and upload to radio, and I thought all was hunky dory. Then in a day or so, once again it stopped working. Nothing I try works, I have tried all the various drivers on miklor.com, although they don't even mention Yosemite, they stop at Mavericks. I have a programming cable from cheapham.com, which I assume is a generic chipset, since it cost all of $8. This cable works reliably on my 2006 white Macbook and my 2006 iMac, both running Snow Leopard, so I can program my Baofeng with CHIRO, but I sure would like to be able to use my Macbook Pro. Is a new more expensive "genuine" FTDI programming cable going to fix the problem on Yosemite? Which one from which vendor? Thanks! Pat Anderson KD7OAC

For purposes of sharing, here is what I did to finally successfully Install the Prolific Driver on my W8.1 64bit machine. The solution was getting the correct "SER2PL64.SYS" file. Thanks to those here, a Microsoft MVP, and Prolific for their patient assistance. On my windows8 64b computer I started by installing the windows 8 driver PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1.11.0.zip It's on the http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/CustomerLogin.aspx website (use guest/guest for user and password). (This direct prolific driver download link might work too) http://www.prolific.com.tw/admin/Technology/GetFile.ashx?fileID=232 IMPORTANT: My past problem was missing the right .SYS file in c:\windows\system32\drivers folder. Get the correct ser2pl64.sys file here: ftp://ftp.sdt.be/pub/SDT170%20Software/USB/USB%20driver%20Win7/ser2pl64.sys (this file, only 64000 bytes compaired to the original that was over 150K) Next I ran the Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1.11.0.exe (from the above zip). Next I copied the 64K ser2pl64.sys file into the Windows8 C:\Windows\System32\Drivers folder (overwrite the original although it may be prudent to first rename the original to ser2pl64.OLD) Then I plugged in my usb to serial cable, if the cable is not correctly recognized, remove the cable. Now right click the Prolific driver listed under the "Ports (Com&LPT)" listing in Device Manager and click "upgrade the driver"; next highlight "search the local machine" and pick Prolific_3_2_0_0 from the list. Re insert the USB cable. After many frustrating attempts, this finally worked for me. Mike K5HUM

Hello fellow CHIRP users. I am in need of some assistance. I recently programmed by UV5R after a lot of time spent messing with drivers and cables. Finally got everything talking to each other. Recently went to use the radio with CTCSS tones enabled and discovered an issue. No matter how many times I would program a CTCSS frequency into the menu (11 and 13), the second I move to another menu item and switch back the frequency resets (and yes I hit menu again to confirm each time). In my case specifically the R-CTCSS menu resets to OFF, and the T-CTCSS menu resets to 67.0. I don't even exit the menu, just go to #11 > menu > set for specific frequency > menu to confirm > jump to menu #12 > back to menu #11 and it's sitting at OFF. I know I need to set both to the same frequency for this to work properly but I can't even jump between menu items without it getting reset. So I figure that either I need to adjust something in the radio and from what I've read in all the online manuals I'm doing this right, OR, I have programmed the radio as such to reset to these settings every time. Right now in CHIRP my Tone Mode is set to Tone and Tone frequency is set to 67.0 which is the only frequency the T-CTCSS will set to, but I'm hoping there is a way to program this right so that I can choose a CTCSS frequency on the fly in the radio and not have to program the specific code using CHIRP each time. Ok, the Win_Driver_Prolific_3_2_0_0 with a FTDI chip cable and Chirp (or UV-3R tranceiver software), all work great on my XP and W7 machines. Installing the same driver and cable on my W8.1 Laptop produces the following error: This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Not Enough Quota} Not enough virtual memory or paging file quota is available to complete the specified operation. Any suggestions on how to solve the W8.1 problems? Please read carefully and you will see that I am not having radio problems I am having software problems. I was trying to use CHIRP with Windows Vista Business. I already have UV-5 and UV-82 loaded and they work, but when I try to run Chirp I get the following: C:\Program Files\CHIRP\chirpw.exe The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more details. I am using chirp-daily-20150702-installer and the cable driver I am using is Win_Driver_Prolific_3.2.0.0 and it works fine on Windows 7 and 10 John Milkor suggested I contact you. Larry Nation K0SLZ

I bought two baofeng radios, one is UV-82C an the other is BF-F8H and I can get neither one to up load to the computer it says in the paper i got with the radios that the small CD disc has all the software on it but when i click on it open it there is just a bunch of files, it says in the instructions that to click on the radio on the menu bar but so far I have found no menu bar with a radio to click on. It says I have to upload to the computer before I can program the radio OKAY what do I have to do get past this point. I'm lost I can't even get started till this happens. thank you Jim KM6WC CM97iw

[chirp_users] Error- Radio rejects download

I have a Baofeng UV-5R radio and am attempting to download from radio and get the error that radio rejects download. I have the programming cable for the radio from Baofeng and it is a USB on the computer end. I even attempted to use another port on the computer.I get it to download from radio but gives me a new set of downloads. I then take the program I had manually set up on a Chirp screen and then export/import to the new download set up when downloaded to radio. I then attempt to download to radio. It will not clone and it says radio rejects clone, or radio rejects download. The manual does not have much information that came with the radio. I thought if I did a factory reset on the radio and wipe out all that was on the radio and then do the download from and to radio it might work but i can not find where to even do a factory reset on the radio. Hello! I recently bought this radio and was very excited to get chirp to work with it. However, it seems like the nuances of "a+" are different than id-51. Hello All, I am trying to load CHIRP onto my desktop (Windows 7). I did check the FAQ and searched the CHIRP website before asking this question. I was looking for step by step instructions for installing CHIRP. My apologies if I overlooked it. What I have done so far is to click on the latest daily builds link. I then downloaded chirp-daily-20150702-installer.exe which when I open it brings up a blank page though there is a RADIO tab with options. I have yet to connect my radio to the computer as I have the computer cable on order. Do I also need to download the <http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/LATEST/chirp-daily-20150702.app .zip> chirp-daily-20150702.app.zip file? I did download and unzip it but now what? [chirp_users] IC-T70A SCAN behavior incorrect after being programmed

Folks, I programmed my IC-T70A using Chirp daily and it programmed successfully, however I found that during SCAN mode any T SQL channel has the beep icon displayed as it’s passed during the scan. If signal is found the radio starts beeping. This behavior is only supposed to be in place if pocket beep is on and therefore I thought it was a programming or firmware bug. I then used RT Systems IC-T70A app to download the memory and immediately program it back. The beep icon and issue went away. My conclusion is that either I’m using Chirp incorrectly to set T SQL or Chirp has a bug where it’s programming T SQL incorrectly. I noticed that Chirp has two identical strings named “T SQL” in the drop down menu and wonder if that could be related to the issue. Perhaps Chirp is programming the memory channel with T SQL with the beep bit turned on. Does this sound like a valid bug? If so, I will file it. Thanks

Hello all: Using the latest CHIRP (daily build 20150702) on a group of BaoFeng UV-82C. The last one I received causes Chirp to quit unexpectedly when I try to upload an image. I can download from the radio and upload new settings but not the cloned image from the other four UV-82C’s that I use. The program crashes and quits within the first 3 seconds of attempting an image upload to this one radio. I’m using MacOSX (10.10.4). Firmware is US2S25 on all five UV-82Cs. Any help appreciated. James

I just won a Baofeng UV-5R at our local hamfest today. Holding "3" down while I power on reports BFB-297, however when I run CHIRP and try to read the radio, CHIRP reports "Incorrect model selected" and I am unable to read the radio. However when I do the same thing using my older UV-5R that reports BFB-251, then CHIRP properly downloads the radio data. Has the Baofeng firmware changed that much? If it helps, the BFB-291 new radio has serial 13U1006381 and the BFB-251 older radio has serial 1010024752. The only difference on the label that I can find is that the older radio claims 480MHz as it's upper frequency, while the newer radio claims 520MHz. I am using the latest 'chirp-daily-20150702-win32' daily build under windows 7 and a FTDI cable, but did try one earlier version with the same results. Any suggestions, assistance, or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and effort. *.....Bob, VE5XEF*

[chirp_users] transfer random frequencies to chirp

I am able to import frequencies from radio reference but there are other frequencies that importing doesn't include. I tried copying the freq's from the reference page to my saved image but the fields don't match and it won't save such as tones and modes. Is there an easy way to get these 20-30 freq's into chirp so to upload to my radio? Do I have to have all fields entered or can I just enter a frequency. Thanks for the info and help.

Hey Marco, fellow Chirp users, Thought I'd chime in mention that programming my FT1D with the Chirp daily went well after a few minor bumps. Thank you to Marco and everyone to make Chirp possible! I searched for them here in the archive and didn't find any so I thought I'd mention them here: #1 - In bringing in memories I saved as an export from a Kenwood TH-F6A, things went very well! #2 - Few questions - Left Hand "Settings" tab APRS General - What is the "User Selected Symbol"? I already have /[ for the APRS "person" symbol - "My Position" says Manual Lat/Long though on the Radio says "GPS" - Time Source says "manual" when the radio says "Auto" APRS Transmit: - Chirp calls it "TX Beacons" is set to "interval" when the FT1D calls it Beacon TX and the Radio has it actually set to to AUTO (not SmartBeacon). This means use SmartBeacon if it's enabled in it's own menu APRS SmartBeacon - I would encourage you to make Chirp a little more verbose. Please rename from Type1 to something a little more helpful like: Type 1 - High Speed, Type 2 - Medium Speed, Type 3 - Low speed APRS Messages - It's pretty slick you can capture these messages but what if I don't want to clone them to another radio. Can you give me a checkbox to delete or not export some/all of these? APRS Beacons - It's pretty nice you can capture these messages but really not useful to clone them to another radio. Can you give me a checkbox to delete or not export some/all of these? I have an Icom IC-91A handheld. I have installed the latest daily install as of today. The radio loads up just fine however when it gets to memory 849 it just says (Idle) I close the program, relaunch and same thing. I have tried downloading previous daily installs and have had no luck correcting this. I start to edit some of the channels and it says its writing the memory but then the program locks up. If I select refresh my list completely disappears and the info below shows (Getting bank information for memory 849) I tried turning the radio off and on, unplugging and plugging back in the cable and still the program is frozen. I reload the program and I am back to the error message. There is a [0] in front of the message. Not sure where to go from here. Attached is the log 73's KE7ROQ

Hi, I tested chirp 0.4.1 on Debian Jessie with my Kenwood TH-F7e via USB-serial Adapter and a serial-RIG Cable. It worked very well and I could read and write data from and to the handheld. It failed while reading Frequency Names like Düsseldorf or others with Umlauts. I am running UTF8 on my box. Are there other recommendations on the Locale to be used? Thanks Christian = DG7PC :wq!

Hello, I have a Baofeng BF-F9 tri power. I am using CHIRP daily-20150623 .... GTK 2.24.10 PyGTK 2.24.0 Python 2.7.10. I can download my radios image using BF-F8HP, but when I try to import my local frequencies from radio Reference, I get an error that I need a sud's memory package installed. Has anyone else experienced this or know what I need to do?

Hello, I hadn't installed the daily builds in awhile so the other day I tried to update to the current daily build. I had a message appear on my screen that the computer couldn't find and various files and maybe I didn't have proper permission to access them. Once that popped up my antiviral software treated the setup file as if it was a virus. I tried going back through the daily builds until I found one that would install and the was for the 6/8/2015 one. So what changed? I am running Vista. Thanks, Don Stewart

Hi, I am hoping someone can help. I have a Baofeng UV5 which I got to work perfect with chirp. I ordered a UV82 and can not get it to communicate to chirp. I have downloaded the latest version of chirp, tried going back to a older com port driver and no success. I am running win8 / 64 bit and using driver version 3.6.78.350 which is supposed to be the latest driver. When I try to download from the new uv82 I keep getting error has occurred, could not open port com3: {error 2} the system can not find the file specified.I have the true baofeng usb cable.My original goal is to clone or export my channels from the uv5 to the new uv82 but without connecting to chirp I am lost. I have spent numerous hours trying to search for a fix to no avail.Please help ! Thanks

I just got the radio and finally got CHIRP working on my Mac (drivers for cable – duh)… I’m trying to figure out how to program the A level and B level with different frequencies, but after reaching the end of the Internet via Google looking for the answer, I’m completely stumped. Hello - I am a new CHIRP user and have two Baofeng UV-5R radios. I was able to get CHIRP to communicate with one radio and uploaded some memory channels. However, when I tried the second radio, I got an error message "The upload was stopped because the firmware of the image (Ver BFB297) does not match that of the radio (BFB299 BFB297). However, when I power on the radios holding the 3 key down, I see that the firmware version of both is the same - BFB297. How do I resolve this??? Thanks. Hi all, to John, Maybe wise to add to the http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_ErrorMess.php page. with the uv-82 giving this message. It needs to be on the A-channel and I've had the best results when in "frequency-mode", channel-mode sometimes just doesn't work. 73 Bert

First of all, I wanted to send my greetings to the e-mail list, as I am something of a novice to newer radio technology. I have a Baofeng UV-5R, I am running Ubuntu 15.10, a USB programming cable, and the latest daily build of CHIRP for Linux systems. When I follow the on screen instructions for CHIRP, after attempting to connect to my radio, the software comes back with a 'Radio did not respond.' error. Any suggestions on what I may be doing wrong? If more information is needed in my situation, feel free to ask. Kristopher Arens KC7VWQ

Hello all, I am trying to upload a small cvs file (30 entries) to an IC-7000 (Macbook Pro, Yosemite -10.10, CHIRP 0.4.1) and I get the following error: There was an error during import: Timeout Radio is set at 9600 Thanking you in advance… Denis
