Hello, I have a question about how CHIRP handles GMRS radios, e.g. BTech GMRS V1 and Retevis RB26. I've noticed that CHIRP enforces that GMRS channels follow the FRS channel number and frequency pairings, e.g. Channel 1 is 462.5625, Channel 18 is 462.625, etc. I've been trying to find in the FCC regs if this mapping is a requirement of GMRS operation. The only place I've found the channels spelled out is on 47 CFR Part 95B §95.563 "FRS Channels" (link), but GMRS seems only to specify the frequencies and bandwidth which may be used via Part 95E §95.1763 "GMRS Channels" (link). It's entirely possible that I've missed the clause requiring this mapping, and I am not a lawyer, so apologies if I've overlooked it. When I am programming a GMRS radio, I don't always want what my family refers to as our "channel 1" to be 462.5625. Likewise I may want to set up different repeaters that may use the same frequencies, but different tones (especially on radios where I cannot edit the tone from the radio itself) I am able to program the RB26 to accept an alternate GMRS-legal frequency with a little trickery, so there does not seem to be a firmware restriction enforcing this and it hasn't bricked my radio (yet). Would it be possible for CHIRP to accept GMRS-legal frequencies in any channel slot, and not require the FRS channel-frequency mapping? Thank you, Chris Romp

[chirp_users] unlocked GT5R transmission frequency issue

**** The issue I am having is of my own making and it is not a problem with Chirp**** I did not submit a bug report because I am using the radio in unsupported way. I have an unlocked GT5R. Everything in Chirp works great except transmission frequency. If I upload channels from my computer to the GT5R everything looks fine and it receives fine but every channel when I go to transmit has a frequency of 666.666 and the radio freezes. Once I turn it off and back on it is not frozen. The work around I found is to program each channel through the keypad with the appropriate transmission frequency after I do the upload from Chirp. It takes time but then the radio will transmit fine then . Does anyone know of an easier workaround? FYI I am using a week old daily build on Ubuntu 20.04. Thanks

I'm beginning to look into DMR radios, and so far none are listed on the compatible radios list. Is this a generally true statement that CHIRP doesn't support DMR? If not, I guess it's also safe to say it isn't coming soon. What are DMR folks using most of the time to program their radios? The software that comes from the radio vendor? Thanks!

How can I get my radio supported by CHIRP? In order to add support for a new radio model to CHIRP, a developer needs to reverse engineer the clone protocol and memory format of the radio. This can often be done in a relatively short period of time, but requires physical access to the radio itself. If you're interested in loaning your radio for this process, please follow these steps: 1. Look at the <https://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Wiki> front page to make /sure/ that it is not already supported 2. Look at the current set of <http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/issues?query_id=15> new model requests to see if it has already been requested. If it has, do not open another issue, but feel free to post comments and pledges to help in that item 3. If neither of the above applies, then open a <http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/issues/new> new request Please note that there are many new models hitting the market each month. The chinese radio manufacturers crank them out at unbelievable rates. Many of these are copies of the same model, but often changed in very tiny but incompatible ways. As a volunteer-fueled project, we can't possibly address every model that shows up. Everyone wants their radio to be supported, but we have to address the models that are the most popular and which have developer support. If you are in the market for a radio, it is highly recommended that you check the CHIRP model support list before making a purchase. At the beginning of 2016, there were over 300 requests to support new models in CHIRP pending in the issue tracker. A quick search did not show a request to support this radio. hi all, As I've mentioned above, Been trying to figure out how to program IC-7100 for almost a year now. I've followed the live mode radio "import/export" directions as well as the instructions outlined in Bug #7807. I cannot get the radio to accept any input or programming whatsoever. I'm using the latest version and daily update on a raspberry pi 400. Is there anyone who can provide me with or direct me to a step by step guide for programming an Icom IC-7100?
