Does the UV-6R display the "name" ? I uploaded a stock configuration that included name info but the radio isn't showing it, unlike the UV-5R that does. None of the reviews I found mentioned it. Ive got the final release of OSX Sierra (10.12) and the latest version CHIRP (chirp-daily-20160911) and get an error every time I try to “download from radio”. The error is: An error has occurred Could not open port /dev/tty.usbserial: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: ‘/dev/tty.usbserial’ I also have the latest FTDI driver installed and listed it below: 146 0 0xffffff7f8330e000 0x7000 0x7000 com.FTDI.driver.FTDIUSBSerialDriver (2.3) ECC3AF36-431D-370D-86F2-5237785E9CF8 <141 42 5 4 3 1> OS: Mac OS 10.12 Radio: Baofeng BF-F8HP USB Cable: BaoFeng Tech Programming PC03 FTDI Cable Dual Pin Thanks, Kenneth

Hi all, I just received an old Kenwood TK-2100. It is not supported based on the CHIRP home page. Can anyone point towards something that will do the job and not cost $100+. TIA, Best, Tom

Using the btech_2.py file worked to download from radio for the first time. I am using Ubuntu 16.4 LTS and the latest daily build of chirp. Hope to see this fix in daily build soon. Thanks for your efforts.

Hi to all, main Btech Chirp's driver developer here, Recently working with a Chirp's user about this problem, he spot the possible cause of the driver not working on Linux OS as it should be: Linux is to fast! So, we have crafted a dev version with this patch and need some of the users out there with a Linux Operating System that has problems in the past with the BTECH/QYT/Waccom radios to test it. See http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/3993#note-12 for instructions and a link to download the dev version, models affected are mainly this: * BTECH 2501 * BTECH 2501+220 * BTECH 5001 * QYT KT8900 * QYT KT8900R * Waccom Mini 8900 Again: this patch will affect only Linux users. With the open spaces, large patrol areas and such, vhf LO is probably the best band out there for them. ------ Original message------From: J.
