Is there any place I can upload... say a "serial dump" file of communication between it and some propriety software (named SV83) ? I managed to create a serial sniffer cable, so if I have a place to upload it, then you guys could inspect and add support for it. Heck I think having a dedicated place to upload serial dumps would be great for reverse engineering efforts.

[chirp_users] Wouxun KG-UV6X, is it possible to unlock menu function?

Hello everyone. I was hoping you could help me out. I just received my Wouxun KG-UV6X. As expected it showed up with the keyboard locked. I have a MAC running on OSX 10.9.2. There were several references on the internet suggesting that Chirp can unlock the keyboard. I am using a USB cable that I have successfully worked with about 15 Wouxun UV3D's as well as a kenwood TH-F6, so I'm pretty darn sure my cable works. I was able to download from radio on my new UV6X and upload to radio a few frequencies that I need for work tomorrow (Safety/Rescue technician for a large exploration project). I am unable to unlock the menu feature on the radio. I was expecting to be able to click on the settings button in Chirp and access that option, and others, from there (similar to the KG-UV3D's I've programmed. However, when I click on the Settings button I get nothing but a blank screen. I tried to download the free software from the Wouxun site, but of course my OS does not support it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. rob

I see that someone offered to loan his FT-1500M several months ago. Has anything come of this? If needed, I would gladly loan my radio. If someone will PM me the address, I'll send it off. How long does it usually take to add a radio to Chirp? Joe Gray W5JG

Ok, thanks all. I figured it out. I wasn’t changing the file category to CHIRP.img in the drop down box. Got all my rigs properly cloned. Thanks so much everyone. 73. CHIRP’s default file format is an *.img format. New Troop here. I am very glad there is a Chirp. This UV5R is driving me up the walls. It took me awhile to get it programming with but then started working good. Then later it refused to program as it was working. I think it had something to do with shutting down my pc. Worked hard with many different trys and finally got programming working again seeminglt by deleting then reinstalling Chirp. Now programming has stopped working again. Says radio will not respond. So,deleted Chirp and reinstalled. That didnt work this time. Any advice much appreciated! Hi All I have only been on this reflector for a month or so. So if this was already discussed or is on the Chirp web site my apologizes. If you have a Kenwood TH-K2 before you can program the radio using any software including Chirp you need to go to menu item number 31 (PC) and change it to "On". When you have finished programming your TH-K2 you will then need to go to menu item 31 (PC) and turn it to "Off" otherwise your speaker mike will not function properly. I found this out today when I was unable to program the HT using a known good cable and Slacko Puppy Linux for the os. Searched all around the web and finally opened the radio manual which explained about menu item 31 Hope this is of some help to some other TH-K2 owner. Hello, I am nat able to download from my radio using Chrip. My radio is a Baofeng uv-82. It is a new radio and I am new to chirp. My OS is windows 7. The cable is a usb programming cable form Baofeng via amazon. The cable drivers are installed corectly. I can open the com port under Tera Term and shorting the TX and RX contacts togethter I can get it echo what I type. I can also probe the connection and see resonable data on the O-scope. I have tryed the stable as well as the nightly build of chirp. When I try to download I get the error "the radio did not respond". It is hard to see but I think the cable is seated al the way in. With just the cable and tuning on the radio, It will not key but as soon as i plug the usb cable in the radio will key. I have also tried to download from the radio on "copying" mode by holding down the 2 key while turning on the power. If I do this with tera term opend to the right com port I get a repeating set of bytes that look to be binary (garbaled ascii chars). Any Ideas? thanks, kk6onl

Hi Really I cannot connect with stable either, Status msg is "rdio did not respond". Any ideas? Just got the radio.
