Is there any place I can upload... say a "serial dump" file of communication between it and some propriety software (named SV83) ? I managed to create a serial sniffer cable, so if I have a place to upload it, then you guys could inspect and add support for it. Heck I think having a dedicated place to upload serial dumps would be great for reverse engineering efforts.

[chirp_users] Unused Fields Option and the missing NONE selections

Well thanks for the tongue lashing (that's a little overboard) but it was a little lecture on the "Hide Unused Fields" checkbox and how it is now going to be the default and solve all my problems. IT DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM!!! Read on to learn why. So I load up my data and change the option to hide unused fields. OK, all those pesky 88.5s in the sheet magically disappear. OK, great. But then I change one of the PLs to 100.0. Oops, since there are no horizontal lines to help guide me across a sea of blankness, I got one off and meant to change the next one down. OK, just set it back off by ... uhhhh... THERE IS NO "NONE" selection. I CANNOT SET IT BACK TO OFF!! Aww nuts, now I have to either delete this memory and enter it in again or kill all my updates and reload the sheet and start again. Neither is a good thing to have to do because of a missing option in a box on a sheet without any guide rules (lines) to help me get it right in the first place. You see, good programming practice is good programming practice. Band-Aids are NOT GOOD PROGRAMMING PRACTICE. Not sorry about the screaming. I worked in computers for 30+ years. I was trained and also taught myself and taught classes about good programming practice. And what CHIRP is trying to do with this Band-Aid is just plain wrong. If you can set something on, you must be able to set it off, too. As I said. If I had produced something like this and put it out to the field, I would have been fired! Now it is time that someone, somewhere in the organization realized that there HAS to be a NONE selection to turn off a PL or any other selection that is no longer needed or was entered by mistake. And as far as I can tell, that is not possible since there is no NONE selection. Am I wrong? If so, I apologize in advance and await another tongue lashing. Thanks to all for all the hard work but someone missed a standard design point on multiple of the columns. Mike

[chirp_users] Win 8.1 and prolific driver and Baofeng UV 82

I was able to use my cable with the counterfeit chip and the correct driver while using Win 8. Everything worked fine. I upgraded to 8.1 and now the wrong driver keeps coming back even when I update the driver. I can delete and or upgrade, still the same even rebooting, even turning off auto updates. The correct driver will show up, without the exclamation mark, and within seconds of plugging in the cable, the screen will flash 2 or 3 times and the driver will show up with the exclamation mark. Any thoughts?

[chirp_users] Yaesu VX-3: Received incomplete image from radio...

Hello all, I have a new Yaesu VX-3 and I am currently failing to get Chirp to read the download from the radio. I have a laptop with a real serial port running Linux Mint 17, connecting to the VX-3 by serial cable. I can start a download from the radio and Chirp appears to be receiving it with a moving progress bar but, at the final moment of download, when the radio completes its send I get the following error from Chirp: "Failed to communicate with the radio: Received incomplete image from radio" I get this error on Chirp versions 0.3.1 and 0.4.0 Forgive me if this has been asked before, I think I've searched everywhere I can and I've looked over the last 6 months archive of the mailing list for relevant thread titles. The closest I found was this open issue on a Yaesu VX-8: http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/1511 The VX-3 has obviously been around for some time so I'm hoping this issue has come up before and someone can point me in the right direction...? Rolan, W3FDK here, I used the speaker jack to 9 pin D connector to serial to USB (FTDI ) and turned on the radio and on Chirp > Radio and selected Icom and auto detect and it downloaded the memory data. The IC2200H screen displayed CL OUT then back to normal display after download and all the memories and DSTAR data was there as far as I could tell. Maybe what was described in the trouble query is for rig to rig clone? Then enable "Hide Unused Fields". Now unused fields will be blank. You won't need "no tone" because there will be no tone value listed (it will be blank). This is something I was thinking of opening a problem ticket on. It is confusing, obviously, to many to have the default and "no tone" setting to be a tone. In this case 88.5. We use 88.5 on some repeaters locally and having the "no setting" setting the same as "in use setting" both be 88.5 is confusing for a quick look at the grid. I got confused, myself, when going through the grid and had to go back to he repeater book to figure out if these were really in use or not. One used two different tones and one was 88.5 and, once again, I had to go back and double check and make sure if this was in use or "no tone". I would also like to see a NONE setting in the Tone columns for a more positive indication that there is no tone used here. [chirp_users] CT2 Yaesu 7800 with TTL2USB CT2 lead

Hi all, I have a TTL2USB CT2 programmer and leads for the 7800, and am getting the following problem. I can copy the data from the radio to chirp, but it fails to upload, giving an error message , either a fail or a bad memory lock message. Anyone else experience with using the CT2 with Chirp?
