Is there any place I can upload... say a "serial dump" file of communication between it and some propriety software (named SV83) ? I managed to create a serial sniffer cable, so if I have a place to upload it, then you guys could inspect and add support for it. Heck I think having a dedicated place to upload serial dumps would be great for reverse engineering efforts.

[chirp_users] Should I Get a New Build for Any Reason?

I have a way old build (Feb 2012) that I use mostly for my Baofeng UV5R and a little bit for a Wouxon...it seems to work fine for what I need to do with it, but has anything significant been added for the UV5R or in general that is a reason to update? What I am afraid of is that I have it working fine now, and somehow every time I try to update just about anything, something gets messed up and it no longer works at all! I have never updated CHIRP, so I don't know what issues if any I might encounter. Thanks! Pat Anderson KD7OAC

[chirp_users] CHIRP and IC-7000

Has anyone had any success programming an IC-7000 with CHIRP? My CHIRP sees the radio and tells me it programs only in "live" mode and that it can't download or upload anything. When I try to enter data directly CHIRP goes through something but then the screen comes back and reloads the channels again. All of which are blank, by the way. 73 Dick

Gents, new to the list and honestly don't know how to search and see if this topic has been discussed before. I modified my 817nd so it would work on cap freqs. After the mood I lost 60m. When I use chirp I can't seem to load all memories, as a master of fact I cannot download ft817nd(US)... It fails loading the last memory block. Any way to get 60 meters back? I was trying to help a friend work through some problems with Chirp on Win8.1 the other night. (We were actually swapping info back and forth at the bottom of a shared g-doc we were using for logging net check-ins, so not the best medium to convey meanings.) She indicated she'd used Chirp in the past but that it was broken after the switch. My first thought was that the 2.3.0.0 (counterfit-tolerant) driver wouldn't work under 8.1 but a found a short thread in the Chirp archives that suggested it does work and that shouldn't be an issue. Also, she said the Baofeng SW that came with the radio/cable does work, so presumably that installed a driver that works with the cheap cables. I asked her if she'd trying running Chrip *after* getting the Baofeng utility working, but that's where we ran out of time. I'll pursue it further with her, but thought I'd ask here in the interim for any gotcha's that might crop up with Chirp and Win8.1. Benton 29may14 -- KF7QLP benton(a)siletzbay.com

[chirp_users] UV-82 question....

Hi….new to the list, with a question. Using CHIRP 0.4.0 with a UV-82 that I recently purchased. In the .img file there are two tabs on the left, Memories and Settings. I found a wiki that pretty well describes the various columns along with how to set things up in Memories. However, there are quite a few things under ‘Settings’ and I have not found a wiki or other reference to those. Does one exist? I realize that many of these settings are not things that would be in need of change, but others I’d like to know more about. A simple example would be under ‘Advanced Settings’ is ‘Scan Resume’ with the options of CO, TO and SE??? There are other things as well, but that’s an example. Commercial radios I’ve used before have scan resume setting in number of seconds. BTW, I have no intention of screwing up the radio by randomly changing things which aren’t well defined or explained. That’s why I’m asking here! :) Thanks, Forrest
