Is there any place I can upload... say a "serial dump" file of communication between it and some propriety software (named SV83) ? I managed to create a serial sniffer cable, so if I have a place to upload it, then you guys could inspect and add support for it. Heck I think having a dedicated place to upload serial dumps would be great for reverse engineering efforts.

I've added Bruce W4BRU's article on solving Ubuntu connection issues to the wiki. Thanks Bruce You will also notice that the documentation page has been rewritten slightly to bring more focus on each article by topic - this should make finding specific topics a tad easier. I'm in the midst of creating a table that will list each of the radios that are on the wiki's first page, and whether they work in clone or live mode. This is yet another question that newcomers who have picked up their radios for the first time are likely to have. This will eventually go into the 'Using CHIRP' topic Problem is, I haven't a clue (as would any newcomer) as to which radios are live mode. How about it folks? [chirp_users] Ubuntu connection issues and resolutions

I'm home now, so when someone has these Ubuntu issues and fixes written up please forward them and I'll put them into the wiki. I have Libre Office so I should be able to read Word documents, but it would be simpler if it were a text document (Word tends to put all sorts of strange formatting characters that most Wikis choke on - really messes the formatting up). I can barely spell Ubuntu (save that it seems to be a Swahili word), so complete details are important. [chirp_users] Icom IC-T90A: Rolling an OPC-478 cable with a CP-2102 USB board

I've successfully made cables for both a Baofeng UV-3R and UV-5R using a CP-2102 USB board. Total cash outlay for each, about $3. Now I'm moving on to my real radio, an Icom IC-T90A. I found the following info: http://highfields-arc.co.uk/constructors/other/opc478.htm#usb But it has not produced fruit with the Icom CS-T90A software. Specifically, it errors "Cannot access COM port." If I remove the cable / diode from the header and jump TX and RX pins together, the CS-T90A software responds differently, indicating "No answer from the transceiver." So, I know the software and the CP-2102 are talking. There's a note in the instructions above about connecting the CTS and RTS pins together... which I can't do on the 2102 board I have. The pins are on the IC of course, but not connected to anything on the board. The diode I used appears to be good and electrically, the cable seems sound. Any ideas? BTW, I found a treasure trove of info on T90A programming, courtesy of Eric Behr at NIU. Bruce et al.. - Please do prepare whatever documentation for fixing that issue. I am traveling this week, and I won't be back home until late Friday. I'll take a look in the CHIRP wiki and see where we can put it - maybe in the Cables article, or perhaps we'll make a whole new article for the issue, and specifically how to solve it (probably best as a new article, come to think of it, since this a fairly specific technical topic). But here's a question I never found the answer for - How can you append that data at the end of data you've already loaded, or perhaps put the configuration file in first, then the unloaded contents of your radio? Hey all, I finally got so my computer would recognize the Baofeng UV-5Rdownload cable, and when I went to Chirp and I select "down load from computer", it says "cloning" but only downloads one frequency, i.e., 136,025000....... I found the Miklor site and am attempting to use their instructions but they don't seem to be very clear or detailed. I looked for a Baofeng UV-5R site that would provide customer support, but couldn't find anything. Also, when I look for my firmware version it says BFB297, and it says to go to the settings section to see your real firmware version #, but when I got there, it doesn't have any numbers listed. It then says I have to download the daily build, but when I do that, it doesn't seem to want to install correctly. It is a zipped file and when I unzip it, it doesn't seem to do anything. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Ray
