[chirp_users] problems syncing baofeng uv-5r

I have the usb drivers isntalled there doesn't appear to be any problems with that when i look in the device manager. I installed the chirp software selected the appropriate com port and then tried to read from radio it just hung and after 15 minutes I clicked cancel and my computer blue screened then rebooted. any suggestions? [chirp_users] help with ID-889H

I have not been able to get Chirp to recognize my ID-880H using the data port. Has anyone else got this to work or are all using the speaker jack and a level converter? I am using one of the latest daily builds and Win7. I am using a homebrew RS-232 cable that works fine with the Icon ID-880H software. Thanks Danny NG9R

[chirp_users] Chirp LiveCD update

I am currently uploading a new version of the Chirp LiveCD. It should be available for download by 1900GMT. http://sourceforge.net/projects/chirplivecd I've added a few new features to make the CD even more useful. First is an updater for Chirp. You will see an orange icon on the desktop titled Chirp Updater. Double click it and follow the on screen instructions to update Chirp to the latest release. Please note that if you are running from a CD, the changes will NOT be retained. When you reboot the computer, you will be back to the old version of Chirp. If you plan to use the liveCD more than a time or two, I recommend you make a bootable USB drive (LiveUSB). Instructions are located in the project's wiki. The LiveUSB will retain the updated Chirp and any files you save. For the Chirp developers out there, mercurial is included in this release. For digital mode users, Fldigi is included in this release. Note to all, I will be unable to push out another release until February. Bob

"power is not so much (since not all radios have the same set of power levels and CSV is a radio-agnostic format" I've never seen a radio with more than 3 power levels. To make it universal, can't you set the Power Level field to - - H igh - M edium - L ow *Mike *

[chirp_users] Comments field for BaoFeng UV-5R+

When doing a *.csv export from CHIRP, I noticed that all the fields programmed into my UV-5R+ do not appear to be exported (i.e. cross mode and power). Additionally, my Tuning Step was set to 2.5 but 5 was exported. Is this a possible bug/problem? Thanks in advance ... -- John 73's de K9RSQ
