[chirp_users] How to program null channels

Dear fellow Chirp'ers: I am trying to program in a few channels while leaving some channels blank. I was able to do this with a version of Chirp from 2014 but I recently tried to upload my old .img to a new UV-82 and was met with a firmware incompatibility message. In my new .img I set the channels I want to use (0, 3, and 4) and want the rest of the channels to be completely unavailable (if you are on channel 0 and press the up arrow then you immediately go to 2 having skipped 1). I thought the way to do this was to was to set the frequency to 0.000000 but I get an error message about being out of reference. I also tried to use a CSV file to import and saw just the few channels I need but this didn't result in the radio only having those three channels. I am including a screenshot of my old .img in hopes this can be guiding. I thank you for your time and assistance. Sincerely, B Stone

I have the BaoFeng UV-5R and the BaoFeng BF-F8+ and this problem happens with both radios when I try to program them from CHIRP on my iMac. I just downloaded the new version of CHIRP and it seems to do the frequency programming fine. But I have noticed lately with both the 0.4.0 and 0.4.1 versions, that the Power-On Message that I have programmed, does not come across to the radio. I have menu item 38 on the radio set to msg and the “Message” dialog is set in CHIRP but it does not come across. There may be other things that do not program as well but the radio performs in the few modes that I use so I dont’ know about any other settings. Also, with both versions, after the programming I get an error message “CHIRP quit unexpectedly” and a long list of comments. I have included a screen shot of the first page. Incidentally, clicking “Reopen” does not reopen CHIRP After this happened several times, I re-installed the Python runtime and had the same results. Do I need to un-install the old Python runtime before installing the latest one? Have you got any other ideas? I’ll look forward to your response. Craig Ryan

Dear Members, My friends radio seems to have the dreaded audio blocking problem after another friend tried to program it. I think it has A corrupted Settings . I downloaded the latest daily build and have this information: 1st firmware message: N5R2407 2nd firmware message: BFB297 6+[power-on message: 150425N Using this information I went to KC9HI's listing or factory or rest image files and found: N5R2407(141006N) But no N5R2407(150425N) Does anybody here have the correct image file for this radio or know where I can find it? Am I out in Left field somewhere? Any help or suggestions on how to get this radio back into this world would be appreciated. It is a brand new radio so maybe the factory image lists just have not caught up with the newer Versions. Since I was not the first person to try to upload the channels listing to this radio I Have no idea what was done before me. [chirp_users] Icom IC-V82

My IC-V82 doesn't work with Chirp. I am using Chirp for Mac. Works 100% with my Baofeng UV5-R. Chirp uploads from the radio and downloads to the radio until right at the end it says that there was an error and wipes the radio. I have to use a Windows machine to program it. Any ideas/solutions? Even though my BF-F9V2+ is listed in the latest Chirp daily, it still won't read my radio. It is listed under the BF-F8HP. Any ideas?

I am not sure which image to select in kc9hi list. The closet I see is N5R3403 but mine was N5R340A. Ok, rats, and I thot I was doing so good... have no idea where the other firmware came from because I don't own any other radios and have never been in chirp before today, but nevertheless... May I ask how you could tell about the BFB firmware? I would like to confirm I understand what needs done here before I do it. So now I need to actually upload an old build (7-14-2014) into chirp. Then I go to the KC9HI site and click on the F5R3407 BF-F8HP(150319N) (factory) img and that will load the factory image into chirp? (if I don't have the old build loaded this wont work?) and then I need to upload the factory file into radio 1 and then I have to reload the latest chirp build. Do I have that right? Will the other images I currently have in chirp be deleted when I load the old version?
