You were correct that I needed to make a new account without the Ø in oder to installe in Window 10. Thank you for your quidance. I have a new cable and I am able to download and upload from the radio. I have a Baofeng UV-5R radio. This is the first time I do this, I wanted to make a simple data set with only 4 frekvencies in the table. I have activated in the settings that I want frekvency info in the top display (A) and name in the bottom display (B). When I transfer to the radio all the frekvencies are transferred correctly, however the name in the first line is transfered to line (chanel) 0, 2 and 3. Only the name in line 1 (chanel 1) is transfered correctly to the radio. Can you please advise what I need to do in oder to get the names to transfer correctly? -- Regards Torbjørn - LA8TP

I'm not sure about Windows 10, but in earlier versions, Windows kept the same user profile... in other words... "under the hood", the directory name associated with that user will still reflect the original username. So make sure you create a NEW user account if you haven't already. You can test CHIRP with the new user account to see if it fixes the problem. If it does... then you can deal with copying your user data from your original user account (if desired). Dave

Hei, I have an error insatalling Chirp in Windows 10. Can you please help me. When I insall the latest version it does not want to open the program. I have a new desk top PC, with 64 bit system, normal screen and Windows 10 operating system. I have enclosed the Debug Log to describe what happend. Is anybody abl to read the debug file? Last summer while in China I purchased a Baofeng UV-5R. I found it difficult to program by the keypad, so I later purchased a programming cable and have installed Chirp in an effort to program the radio. I have followed the "Basic Procedure for Programming" from the Chirp Beginner's Guide Wiki. But I get the following error message when trying to "Download from radio": "Radio refused to send block 0x0140" The block address doesn't come up the same every time. I also had these values from a handful of other attempts: (0x0300, 0x0380, 0x0280, 0x0240). The Cloning process does not complete. I am using CHIRP daily-20170603 within Xubuntu 17.04 UV-5R firmware version is: 297 (according to screen info when pressing "3" and turning radio on) USB cable seems to have this USB/serial converter: Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2303 Serial Port I am new to VHF/UHF operation and HT operation in general. Not completely new to Linux. Have only one cable and one rig. Here in rural Taiwan at the moment, I don't know anyone else who owns a UV-5R, so I can't test the cable or radio against other units. I did read the FAQ and lots of other info, but nothing I saw there seemed to address my issue. Sincerely yours, BX8AAD

Hi, Does anyone know the pinouts for the mini plugs on either or these? I have to make my own programming cable. I don't see either model listed in the Chirp compatibility list, does anyone know if either of these are supported by Chirp? Thanks, Max
