Fix is to initialize the flags to zero -- there was already code to set them to 1 when needed.

Every time I install, it fails unless I grant an exception in ver 12 of Symantec End Point Protection. Pretty sure it's a false positive, but wanted to run it by the developers in this group. I get 2 copies of every message. I had originally configured my chirp email address as pctek(a)pacbell.net <mailto:pctek@pacbell.net> , but that kept bouncing back, so I created a new Gmail account and thought I set CHIRP to use that address. Trying to program my new Baofeng UV-5R. I installed the latest daily build of CHIRP (20150405), downloaded from the radio, and try to import the attached CSV file. I receive the following message: "There was an error during import no attribute power in struct" Anyone have any idea what I might need to do? I have a problem with programming a Baofeng UV-5R radio with the CHIRP program. I get the following error message: Radio refused to send block 0x1ec0 I am a lowly accountant and do not understand a lot of the jargon and abbreviations commonly used by radio enthusiasts. I previously programmed 7 Baofeng UV05R radios in the past few months without any problem. So . . . is there a solution to the error message? Thank you very much! HMC KK6GGH

[chirp_users] Yaesu FT60 connection problem

I am using the cable from RT Systems to attach my FT60R to the system. When the cable is connected, Port /dev/ttyUSB0 is displayed. If the cable is not connected, no port is displayed in the radio box. However, using the method for which the RT System windows program uses, I get a time out on the Download procedure. The method used is turn the FT60R on holding the [Moni/TCall] key. The dial is rotated to CLONE. The [FW] key is pressed so CLONE blinks and comes back. The OK button is selected and the transfer should take place. Any ideas? Jim

I suggest that the file for the latest stable be replaced by a Daily Build that was an excellent one. Better yet would be to ELIMINATE a stable build and just have a link to Today's latest Daily Build. It would eliminate 99% of people's problems with CHIRP. Because of the problem with the stable build existing, people get frustrated and eventually get fed up with CHIRP. They have a point, the stable version should at least be changed to a version after the Baofeng firmware change that introduced incompatibility. CHIRP is an excellent program, it deserves much better. Eliminate the stable build and just have a Daily Build. Those builds are stable enough. 73 David N1EA

When using the graduated squelch settings under Service Settings, what is the correct setting for Carrier Squelch Setting under Basic Settings? As an alternate to setting Menu 32 to SITE, what effect would setting ANI-ID to OFF have? Or are there different, quieter alarm sounds besides 119 (32 still set to SITE, but surrounding folks wouldn't know you just pressed Alarm)? Work Mode Settings is confusing to me since I don't see all of the CHIRP settings reflected in my radio. MR A and MR B show 51 and 41 respectively, yet my radio loads 27, 20, even after battery swap. The VFO A & B: similarly display last used freqs and not what CHIRP has. Display A or B:is set to B, but I don't what that means since A & B: are always visible. I am trying again to get the CHIRP program to work with my Icom T70 and it Is NOT obvious. I have a nice FTDI from Mark Dunkle. KJ6ZWL. I have spoken with Mark and we ar enboth mystified as to why this doesn't work. I got as far as to make it stop SCANNING all the time when I plug the cable in. I follow the key presses to get the radio into CLONING mode. I set it to "CL out." Then I try to "read" the radio into Chirp. The only thing I can see to do in CHIRP is to click on "RADIO" and then "DOWNLOAD FROM RADIO." Is there something else I should be doing? I jhave been trying this since January and just haven't had time to fool with it soince it is such a bad time-wasting failure. I wish people would either supply instructiuons with Chirp or make it so that ist is a bit more obvious and user friendly! I will now try downloading the latest version and see if that helps. CHIRP works fine on two other UV5R radios with the same FTDI USB cable, Windows XP, and daily build 20150325. Also tried builds 20150321 and 20150318. Hello to all. I just purchased the Wouxun KG-UV8D. The programming software that came with it is so very basic. A few friends of mine recommended CHIRP. So I downloaded it. It's much better to program with. When I went to upload the data to the radio, that function was unavailable (greyed out). I can download from the radio, just no upload. I tried CHIRP on my Kenwood TH-F6A and it worked fine. Any idea what may be causing this problem or when CHIRP will support the Wouxun KG series? Thank you

Hi All, I am a new user to Chirp and I am initially using it with an Icom IC 2200H (around 200 memories). Cable and com port all OK. Chirp talk to the radio. I am endeavouring to import a general CVS file of the local repeater list as published by the WIA (Wireless Institute of Australia) here in Australia. I have created an image file from the IC 2200H by ³downloading from the radio². No problems in doing that (works perfectly!). I save this image file for future reference, but that is an incidental comment. I leave the image file ³open² in Chirp. I then attempt to import the local WIA Repeater list into this image file. However, I receive a message that indicates ³UNKNOWN FILE FORMAT². (I have deleted all Repeaters from the WIA Listing that are not 2 metres, so as to keep the list below 200 repeaters, and so as not to compile a list (via the import function) that is incompatible with the IC 2200H (a 2 metre radio only) I guess my question is, how do I prepare the WIA Repeater list (a CVS file which I can see using Excel, of course) so its image matches the Chirp/IC2200H image, and will then presumably enable the import function to operate nicely. On new radios I always download it's image then upload that image just to make sure both ways work before customizing the image. This takes most guesswork from troubleshooting if a problem does occur. Milton Sent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device

Hi, I've been using CHIRP to download/upload programming images to my BaoFeng BF8HP since I got it a few weeks ago. I use the BF8HP field selection in the radio upload/download window and haven't had any problems. I obviously use the most recent build and update with the most recent daily build, and again no problems. Personally I always download the programming image first, make changes, then save the changes and upload the programming. This way I know the link and software are working by downloading first, and this (maybe I'm wrong about this) way I'm not altering the radio first. Just some positive feedback. Recently here in Oz, there have been a number of Chinese radios use by Marine Rescue people, confiscated by ACMA officers claiming interference potential and the usual BS. ACMA in Oz is similar to FCC in the US. I notice my Wouxun complies with FCC part 15 but cannot find a similar statement in the Baofeng manual. I believe as amateurs (full calls) we are allowed to build our own gear so I assume we, the licensed operator, are responsible for complying with licensing requirements and are not limited to commercial, type approved, expensive equipment. I would assume Australian laws would be similar to US laws in this respect. How would this issue affect non Ham users, i.e. CB, Commercial, Civil Defence, Volunteer Fire & Rescue organisations etc? -- 73 Bob, *VK2BYF *

The code had been using the entire byte as an index into the TONES or DTCS_CODES array, and when the high order bit was set, the value was too high by 128, resulting an array bounds error. Fix is to alter MEM_FORMAT to separate the high order bit flags from the lower 7 bit tone and code fields. This also adds some error checking via a "try" block to catch any remaining array bounds errors (though none are expected). And it adds code which attempts to set those bit flags the way the radio would have set them, even though the flags seem to have no effect on the way the radio transmits or receives. The TSQL-R is "reverse tone squelch", and has the same data, and thus the same columns shown/hidden, as in ordinary TSQL. But on TSQL-R, the radio behavior is different. Squelch is broken only if the tone does NOT match the stored tone.

I'm still running Daily Build 20130627, which still works fine for my two UV-5Rs. Because I wanted to play with the squelch settings and because I might want to program newer units than mine, I attempted to install recent daily builds. My first attempt was chirp-daily-20150306-installer.exe. Then, I tried chirp-daily-20150314-installer.exe. In both cases, they appear to run ad infinitum, but no Run or Install window ever appears. >From the Q&A page: How do I upgrade to a newer version of CHIRP? Nothing special is needed. Just download the newer version and install it. The install will replace the old version automatically. This applies to the daily builds as well. Did I choose the wrong file to install from? HI, I'm very happy to see chirp expanded to other models. I purchased the Boefeng for my husband when he got his license. However, I have a Yaseu FT-50R and see that the software doesn't support this model. can you assist me in anyway on being able to use the FT-50R with chirp. Can I set my HT on clone perhaps?? At the end of the transfer, a newline needs to be added, or subsequent output will appear on the same line as the status bar. [Richard Cochran <ag6qr(a)sonic.net>] [ft2900] Fix issues entering channels via UI #2385 This patch fixes problems when entering memories to the FT-2900 via the CHIRP UI. The set_memory function was leaving "unknown" areas of the memory unset, which caused intermittent problems, depending on what had been in those fields before. Fix is to initialize all unknown fields to 0, mimicing what the radio would do if creating new channel via the radio's front panel. Also, we re-order the power levels to make the default "Hi", again to mimic the radio's front panel behavior.

Have been using CHIRP with several different Radios for two years and NO Issues. Just changed up some Repeaters in my VV-898 and now on those I added the Alpha NAME doesn't show up only the Channel number. The Freq's not changed remain the same and show the original alpha name, what am I doing or not doing. Steve - KA5SVR
