[chirp_users] UV50x3 Options

When attempting to program BTech UV-50X3, I am unable to find the option to change the frequency range as it seems to have been limited somehow on my rig. Certain frequencies i.e. any amateur repeaters between 440.***Mhz and 446.*** Mhz can be programmed into CHIRP but the radio does not accept them and when I download the image from it they are zeroed out. Is there an earlier build which had this capability in the settings options that was possible changed by the one from whom I bought the rig, but with updated builds the option was eliminated?

I had found mention linking Errno 13 to anti-virus. I'm running the standard Avira and Malwarebytes Premium. I disabled Avira and individually disabled Web Protection, Exploit Protection, Malware Protection, and Ransomware Protection in Malwarebytes. Still the error. I actually couldn't locate the firewall settings to check that (Win 10 version 1709). I have a Valley Enterprises FTDI cable RPC-Y29C-UF and trying to use with Yaesu-FT90R. I first tried this on my Mac which works for my other Wooxun. I launch Chirp and select Download from Radio. After I selected my model radio and port /dev/cu.usbserial-A105ZGRL I see the message about Putting into clone mode. I did this and it says CLONE on the display, I then plug in and continue. I get this message after about 10 second. [chirp_users] CHIRP Not Communicating With ComputerS

I have not had to do anything with my Baofeng and Yaesu radios for quite a while but our group has added some new frequencies so it time to update. Neither my Yaesu VX-6Rs nor my Baofeng UV-5Rs will communicate with either my Linux Netbook or my WIndows 10 computers. In the case of the Linux box, I have added my user name to the Dialout group then rebooted. In the case of the Windows machines I have changed the Baofeng cable to the Prolific 3.2.0.0 driver that I downloaded today from the Miklor site. The Yaesu cable is an FTDI cable and was always recognized previously. The cables are fully inserted in each case and the volume is maxed out. Device Manager shows both cables as working. The Baofeng cable reports as COM7 and the Yaesu cable as COM6 I'm never surprised with the Windows machines need some tinkering to work but CHIRP and Linux have always worked will in the past. What am I missing. I suspect it's something simple. Many thanks for reading. Tom

I have a Kenwood 372G (1). The radio shows - PC- and CHIRP seems to indicate everything is going smooth (cloning) until the very end. The radios are for work and I only want to leave commercial frequencies in it. I guess I haven't figured out how to report an issue, so bear with me for posting here. The debug file is attached. The errors above the one in the subject got corrected and can be ignored, I think. Thanks.

IC 7100 downloads info however unable to use chirp to upload the DR DStar repeater csv. unrecognized format is response. File generated by Dstarinfo.com DR file creator. their files work on TH D74 id 5100 etc. Missing fields as well as unable to update dstar mgmt screens. Thanks Keith W5KB

If this is a duplicate message, I apologize. Minor email issues. So, I'm new to ham radios and chirp, but I successfully used chirp to populate my Baofeng BF-F8HP with imported repeaters from RepeaterBook. But now it return the error "No Channels Found". Looking at the debug log it shows this link: http://www.repeaterbook.com/repeaters/downloads/chirp.php?func=default&stat… When using this link in a browser it indicates that I need to be logged in. But I wasn't previously logged in when it initial and repeatedly worked. Can anyone shed some light on why this stopped working? Thanks so much. Hi all, I know that satellite communications works best with two radios operating duplex, but I also learned that sat comm can be accomplished using a Yaesu FT-60. [chirp_users] Error message trying to connect Yaesu FT7900R

I have a Yaesu FT60R that connects perfectly, but when I try to connect FT7900 I get an error message saying the USB file isn’t found, I’m trying to us the same connection that does work on the FT60r only difference is the cable plugged into the radio. Should I be able to use the software with 2 different radio’s? I can’t confirm or reject if it is the cable. I have tried to install a separate instance of Chirp but I get the same error message “could not open port /dev/cu.usbserial-RT0UYFJC: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/dev/cu.usbserial-RT0UYFJC’ yet this is the same connection on the FT60r. I am also using this on a Mac Book high Sierra Thanks, Mary

A recently purchased D710GA is working with the MCP6 software and the USB version of the programming cable on COM 4. When I use the MCP6 to program a few channels, it is not showing up when I use the same configuration with Chirp and tell it to download from the radio. I try to import a CSV with channels from another radio and it never uploads to the D710GA. The baud rate is set for 9600 in everything. How long should it take to upload 128 channels in live mode? [chirp_users] FRS/GMRS CSV file only 4 channels?

I'm trying to program FRS/GMRS frequencies into a radio and keep running into the problem that only the first 4 memory slots in the file will display in CHIRP. If I open the file with a text editor (vi/vim is my editor of choice), I can see every channel. Use CHIRP and nada. Any ideas? -- --John E Kemker III

Ok, but this was the only way I could get a good read. There was a couple other squelch settins were greater than 123 so now that I can read the values I can change them to the correct values. You just made the bad value acceptable in CHIRP. You should change the bad value (208) to something valid (1 to 123) and upload it to your radio. The value it was supposed to be would be 1 higher than the next lower squelch threshold setting or 1 lower than the next higher squelch threshold setting since they usually increment by 1 from the factory. Then you can set line 1662 back to 123. Hi, I have done this many times before, I don't know if the error is coming from the site or if it means something is amiss with my system. I just today installed Ubuntu Mate 16.4.3 onto USB and ran an update. Than in a terminal, I ran: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:dansmith/chirp-snapshots and I get the error: input output error and the PPA isn't added. Any thoughts? Well I did this, see below, and it worked. Edit uv5r.py and line 1662 change the 123 to 255. I was able to do a complete read with no errors. The problem was in the UHF squelch settings is was set by default to 208. Email your downloaded image to me and I will email it back with a value that is in range. I have a basic programming question maybe someone knows the answer---As an example--I downloaded from repeater book lets say 10 channels. Several days later I activate Chrip again to add more frequencies via repeater book I did thew\ download and find out that the first ten channels data has disappeared and replaced by the second set of frequencies. I'm trying to program my Vertex VXA-700 with Chirp (daily-20180412, Ubuntu 16.04), but I've only been able to enter "PC CLONE" by: * Turning radio on with PTT held down * Radio sends 0x50 * Replying with 0x20 This brings up the "PC CLONE" menu. * Sending 0x70 enters "SEND" mode without pressing PTT again * I suspect there's a similar way of entering "LOAD" without having to press MON, but I haven't figured it out yet Is there an easier way (ie keypress only) of brining up the clone menu? If not, I'll submit a patch to add this handling in. Perhaps it's firmware dependent, my radio is on 105, but some of the files bundled with CE56 (the official Vertex / Yaesu programming software) have a firmware of 106 (can be checked by turning radio on with MON held down, and pressing MON twice). Hi All, I am using CHIRP to program in all of my repeaters into the UV-82HP. I ran into an issue: When loading in the CTCSS Codes to "unlock" the repeater, the software will load the CTCSS code on BOTH the Receive CTCSS (R-CTCS, Menu 11) and Transmit CTCSS (T-CTCS, Menu 13), instead of ONLY the T-CTCS, so I am unable to receive any signal coming back from the repeaters. Afterwards, when I try to change the R-CTCS to 0.000 Hz, it will automatically switch back to the programmed R-CTCS code when I exit the Menu. I have not seen in CHIRP a way to program EITHER the R-CTCS or the T-CTCS, there's only one called:TSQL, which seemingly changes both the R-CTCS & the T-CTCS Is there a way where I can change my R-CTCS codes back to 0.000 Hz and save the setting permanently in my radio? Hi All, I have just recently purchased a Baofeng BF-F8HP and installed Chirp on my Mac Pro. I am unable to connect to the radio to download the initial configuration. I played around with all of the suggested tip and tricks for the Mac (running High Sierra) and was not able to get the software to talk to the radio. I pulled out an old Windows 7 laptop and installed the latest versions of Chirp and Prolific drivers for my USB-to-Serial cable and all works perfectly... So, this tells me that the radio is working as designed and the cable is working with the latest Prolific drivers. Anyone else having an issue with Chirp on Macs? -- Bob K7BSB

Pardon my question if it’s been beat to death but I couldn’t find it in the archives. I’m trying to program my radio and I’m not able to download from the radio into chirp. The radio and my computer are not communicating. Here are a series of screen shots that I hope can help diagnose the issue. The first is the list of ports available(I don’t think the USB port is listed) The second is the error screen I get when I try any of the ports listed. This normally means the driver and the program had a problem. I am using the latest chirp build on Mac with a Yaesu VX-5R. I have no trouble downloading, therefore I assume the cable and driver are working properly. However I am getting a repeatable Clone Error about 2/3 of the way through (based on the progress indicator). I used brew install to get chirp. I never could get the setting to show in the latest chirp build in both the Linux and the windows version. Download from it. If that fixed the out-of-range setting, then you will see the Settings. Once that is successful, you can then "import" your saved image with the out-of-range setting into this tab. Make any other settings change and upload it into your radio. If that doesn't fix it, email the image to me and I will take a look at it. Has anyone considered the adding of the Alinco DJ-10X to the list of supported radios? I have one, but it seems to be a bit of a problem programing it, considering all it's features. Are there any recommended sources for buying a better antenna and battery packs, both sealed and for individual batteries? Also, if someone offers a good price, I may even consider selling it.

Hi; I have just subscribbed to this list, and I have a problem, hope you can help. I have downloaded the latest software an driver (Window 7), connected to my radio (Baofeng UV-82, and downloaded the configuration. The Settings menu is empty. I have an older version (linux live cd version) and it shows the setting file and contents. Just wondering what I have missed /not doing correctly in the windows 7 version. Thanks Joe
