Howdy, Just installed CHIRP daily-20201125 and did a minor mod on my Baofeng GT-3TP. That minor mod was only to lower default trx power on one freq in memory, and rev my version counter. The mod to power level won't take. I tried twice. Anybody BTDT? -- K7CRL Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

[chirp_users] Issue with latest build and Baofeng GT-3TP

I updated today and made a minor mod to my HT, lowering default tx power on one of my stored freqs. That failed to store the mod on HT, no error msg. Tried twice. Failed. Then back in the truck I found that I could no longer hear other HTs in our convoy. So I reset the HT, uninstalled the latest CHIRP build on my w10 box, went back to daily-20201014, re-uploaded file to HT, and all is working fine again. -- K7CRL Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Huge fan here and Gentoo Linux user who recently found out the chirp package was removed from the main repository due to depending on pygtk which (as far as I understand) has no Python 3 support. I'm willing to help fix any ways I can so I can continue to receive updates in Gentoo. Does anyone have more information, are these assumptions completely out of date, or is there already a bug/feature I can support? [chirp_users] CHIRP and VX-6: impossible to upload from Mac

Hi all, I am quite new to this community so greetings to everyone. Downloading from the radio to the Mac goes just smooth. On the other hand it is impossible from OS X to upload an img file to the VX-6 since it deeply crashes OS X and the only solution is to press and hold the power button (chirp-daily-20201014 and High Sierra). I detailed the issue while updating this bug https://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/5543 but I was wondering if anyone had similar issues or has some bright ideas. Thanks, Giulio

[chirp_users] baofeng uv-5x3 not able to program

I have a baofeng UV-5x3 radio. Chirp says to use uv-5r to program. After I select that radio and try to load it, the screen on my computer says "radio identifies as BTECH UV-5X3" Please choose the proper vendor/model and try again. I can only use uv-5r to program according the instructions with chirp. It says that this program will work with my radio. But does not. What can I do? Thanks, Greg

When I set B to display the channel name it displays 70CM CA which is the name of frequency 446.000 in stead of the name of all the frequencies that I am using on A. How can I fix this?

After this last Chirp update (CHIRP daily-20201014), I am no longer able to program my TD-H6. When I try to upload the radio data to Chirp I get the message, "Failed to download from radio: an integer is required". Download to the radio is impossible as it doesn't appear to recognize it. I get this message using Chirp in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Windows 10, so it appears to occur cross platform. I did some research on past issues with the TD-H6, and can only find that this radio was added to Chirp about four months ago. Does anyone have any answers? [chirp_users] Programming an ICOM IC-7100

I recently purchased an ICOM IC-7100 and am trying to purchase it with Chirp. I am unable to find a copy of the official ICOM CS71-00 software (presumably it has to be purchased?) so I am trying Chirp. I usually work on Linux so tried the Linux version first. When Chirp connects, I get a warning that the Icom IC-7100 operates in live mode and that any changes will be immediately sent to the radio. Chirp connects to the radio and downloads the existing memories and bank configurations, but I can't make any changes. For example I would like to change the bank assignments, but the checkboxes do not work. Is it in some kind of read-only mode? Is there something I else I need to do? I went to the Miklor website to try and diagnos some problems I am having in establishing the correct driver. Miklor said the WCH chipset will not recognize Prolific drivers, then said to follow a particular link, but it is in Chinese. I have Windows 10. What can I do?

Thank you. I will try this. I bought the whole set of radio, microphone and baofeng program cable. When I check my ports it says ch340 instead of prolific so that is probably the problem. When I went to my device manager it gave me a com3 comport. When I click on the read from radio, it gives me the information of comport 3. I then push monitor and push transmit 3 times. after a few seconds I get the error 5 notice. I have a Baofeng GT-3TP. What am I doing wrong?

I used chirp this morning to transfer configuration and memory files from mine to a friend's BaoFeng UV-5R. Haven’t used Chirp in 2 years; it worked perfectly the first time. I very much appreciate the efforts of Chirp volunteers in creating and maintaining this fine program. I am sorry that I don’t have anything to complain about, must not be looking at the situation with sufficient rigor. :) K6PUK, yeah, that really is my call sign, a practical joke by someone at the FCC in 1955.

Hi, I've added the DanSmith repository enough times now that I can do it without looking for the exact syntax. But I keep wondering why Chirp is not in all Linux stable repositories. I mean that if I want something like speech-dispatcher, I don't need to add a repository to get it. As popular as Chirp is, can't it just be in all Linux repositories? Thanks for any info, I have been web searching for an explanation as to why this is in general, but I have only gotten a history of repositories without really explaining an answer to my question. Hi. Being stuck in the Python2.x world, rather than moving to Python3.x is one reason. Python2.x has been "End Of Life'd" so most (if not all) distro's are not including it by default. (That EoL notice was made several years ago!) Though, there is nothing to stop you from installing Python2.7 for example (you may have some dependencies to work through though) then install Chirp. 73. Dave G8KBV. (Linux Mint 19.3 in use here.) I just purchased some Baofeng UV-3R radios and am unable to connect to them with chirp using OSX, so looking for some help with troubleshooting. The error I get is the classic "Radio did not ACK first command". I have chirp working just fine with other chinese radios including BF-F8HP, BF-T1 and UV-9R. The BF-F8HP / UV-5R cable I have, and the UV-3R cable both appear to use the same Prolific chipset (the BF-T1 and UV-9R cables show up differently)... Hello, I'm running into a slight bit of confusion and would like the easiest way to do the following. My cousin has to Baofeng radios, that I have program with MURS frequencies that he can use, since he is not yet a ham. I also have a lot of local public safety frequencies program into it that he scans, and of course have the transmit turned off on those. Here's what we have going on. At work they are using a different model Baofeng radios, supported by chirp. I would like to take one of his radios from work, read their frequencies and add them to his radio in the list below his current frequencies so he can use it at work. I have read about exporting to CSV and importing and it seems a little confusing. Even if I were to do this, I have read nothing about having a choice of what memory slots the important frequencies would go into, or if I have a choice like I normally do when I'm programming. Is there a simple way I can download the memories from their radios and just copy and paste them into his existing file without overwriting or losing what's already in his radio? Is it possible to open up two radio images, in two different tabs at one time using Chirp? I would think that copy and paste should work somehow but I want to make sure I know exactly how to do it rather than mess up the radios that I've set up for him that he really likes. By messing up I mean putting all the frequencies above the ones that are already in there and not at the end. He really needs these extra frequencies added to his current radios that I programmed for him. Yes, I did make an original image of both of his radios, and I do have the fully programmed images saved. The easiest way to do this, is what I'm looking for. If I can forgo exporting and importing, and just copy that would be ideal. Any assistance or help in this matter is greatly appreciated. Thanks, James

I have looked at the web site (FAQ/Wiki/etc) and have not found a definitive answer as to whether an FTM-3200DR is a supported rig. I did see one thread that was several years old but that did not answer my question. I have seen mention of a FTM-3200D but all the documentation I find on the Yaesu web site only refers to radios appended DR or DE. Need some help. Our church uses these for inter church communication. I have setup the first 20 or 30 ht's no problem. I made backup of the program image. We are in need of adding more RT21 to the flock. My problem is after programming the new ht's everything works etc the transmit audio is extremely low to not at all. I also noticed the image file loads back differently by dropping out data. I have changed to the latest Chirp level. And have two programming cables. Nothing changes. I use a working ht and when I download the image file it also is not the same as the orginal. I have also used 4 different laptops and a table computer. Most are running ein 10. I have another laptop running vista sw and the results are the same. Any ideas??

Hello I'm using chirp-daily-20200909 on both windows and linux (mint w/ ppa if that matters) and on the linux version I can find the Retevis RT95 (nor the anytone 778) in the "import from radio" menu.
