[chirp_users] Merging files?

How do I merge data from a CSV file into a file read from the radio? If I import, it just overwrites the previous read data. I want to take a file with 10 channels and import a file that has 20 channels. ending up with 30 channels Can that be done in a bulk fashion or does each channel have to be copied and pasted? Would be lovely to see a channel and settings addition to Chiro for this HF transceiver. It has a data connection that will allow SDR or CAT commands so maybe this radio could be added to the list of supported radios? First try using the mailing list I was wondering why finding free programming software for the Yaesu FT-90 was almost impossible? I have found and used the Chirp software for most of my handhelds radios and I love it. Well done team and a big thanks. The FT-90, modified, is a great little radio for the car but a real pain in the afterburner to program especially since it occasionally looses ALL info about once a year. Tried to login to start an issue but could not. I haven't changed my password and if I try to retrieve my password using this email address it says "unknown user" Am I missing something? [chirp_users] Problem with Radioreference

When I do a Query Data Source I get frequencies from my zip code but they are all Public Service like police, fire, EMS, Schools, road departments etc.. While that's fine and dandy there is an amateur section at radioreference.com that I can import amateur frequencies using one of the Commander series softwares for Yaesu radios. Please check into this because radioreference should be exporting amateur frequencies along with public service or their should be a choice given in the query operation. Or if I'm missing something let me know what. This is one of the daily build, it's a week or so old but it works great with the Wouxun KGUV6D-Ham Only radio. All, I cannot get the Ubuntu version of Chirp to function CHIRP daily-20130209 GTK 2.24.13 PyGTK 2.24.0 Python 2.7.3 to work with an RT systems interface cable on linux. But, Under Windows XP SP3 running on the same system under Virtual Box, Chirp 0.3.0 works. Ubuntu 12.10 KDE Virtual Box 4.1.18 radio: yaesu ft-7800 or vx-7r RT System adapter cable. for the windows system the Data Terminal Ready/Request to Send lines go high (the rt system adapter is power by the diode OR of them at a positive voltage) for the transfer, On the linux version DTR/RTS stay negative. The RT systems adapter must have DRT or RTS high to be powered. I am a member of the tty and dialout groups on the linux system. Any ideas or more information? 73s jim ki6njf

CHIRP version 0.3.0 has been released. This is a major revision from the previous stable version 0.2.3 and includes a hefty number of bug fixes, features, and support for new radio models. Hi All- I've had great success using Chirp on my Mac to program my UV5r's. I'm now trying to use it with my FT-2800m Yaesu mobile. I get a sense that the cable is communicating with the radio, as I sometimes get a message saying the program couldn't get header info, while other times I get an Error message on the radio. I've seen reports of people using different key combinations when powering on to put the radio in pairing mode, which I've done. I'm a little unclear what to do at that point. Can anyone point me to a step-by-step list for programming the ft-2800m with Chirp and a Mac? I'd be forever in your debt. Thanks and 73, Jeff

1--After installing Build 20130208 on my Baofeng UV-5RA I get an error while Uploading to the radio from Chirp, that Radio did not respond. I checked for good cable connections, Com Port, all to no avail. Uploading previous Builds were no problem, this is 1st problem I've experienced. 2--Also, when a new Build is issued, an *.asc attachment is included. What is it and I'm unable to open it. What program can open it? 3--How are Bugs reported, I'm newbie to this list so please excuse me. Thanks, Bill

I have kk7ds python in there And I think my driver is correct, it is /dev/cu.PL2303-002112FD I turn on the radio wed have the F/W pressed CLONE is displayed I select the BAND button and wait and it displays ERROR Can anybody give my any hints I can do? I just returned from a business trip where cell phone access was minimal and internet access was completely non-existent (so no, I didn't fall off the edge of the world). I am in the process of uploading a new version of the Chirp LiveCD. It should be available around 0200 GMT. sourceforge.net/projects/chirplivecd/ The only change is that it contains the 4Feb2013 daily. If you are using the previous version on a USB drive or through a virtual machine and have updated using the Chirp updater, then you are already up to date with this release. Bob

Hello I am having a small issue I tries to program my UV5R with the frequencies of my job and I cannot transmit on them, all it does is receive my co-workers, but no transmit. On my repeaters it works fine. the frequencies in question are in the 161 MHZ and 162 MHZ range. I used the Baofeng Software, and did not work. So then I used the Chirp and was able to put it on the radio but again no transmit. Version on my radio is the older version. If there is any other software I can use to unlock those 2 frequencies let me know, if you have any questions for more information just email me. Thanks, Harvey.

Dan, I bought a CAT/USB cord thru e-Bay, installed the driver, hooked it up, booted CHIRP, followed your instructions, finagled a bit, and VOILA! There was the entire memory of my '817(ND) in front of my eyes. By finagling I mean that I had to work with the "A" and "C" buttons on the radio to get the right sequence, but I managed to both download and upload the memory info. The 50 meter channel change went smoothly, and I dived into the VHF/UHF part to clean it up and add new entries. Boy, what fun! This is the first time in 53 years of hamming that I have actually hooked a computer to a radio--and it worked! 73, Greg, K7ZX

Well, It depends on how and how much you are reading... The last sentence say it must comply with part 95 specifications... So, yes this radio can comply with part 95 easily...this radio complies with part 90 with much stricter rules. That's where the fun starts...Depending on how the radio is programmed will make it compliant or not. If you disable all but the GMRS frequencies and limit the power on those frequencies you can comply.. Now as an emergency radio...All is fair if there is an emergency... Take a look under radio and pick the repeaterbook for your source and you can load in all the repeaters in your area... I think I can get that done now. I don't have them all loaded yet, I am not used to the interface, but I think I can figure it out. Problem Is, I don't have the right channels with the correct numbers. I will eventually figure it out. Marine and GMRS frequencies are provided as stock configs under the File menu. Hello- I've done quite a bit of searching, and I'm unable to find the answer to this: I have a Baofeng UV5r that I'm successfully programming with Chirp. I just picked up an FT-7900r and the RT Systems software/cable. I want to use the programmed channels, etc I have in the UV5r Chirp file and transfer them to the FT-7900r. Is this do-able, and will I be able to use the RT Systems cable? I'm on a Mac, and the daily release is working for me-will this also work on the new Yaesu, or should I d/l the stable release? I have used CHIRP to download my VX-7R's configuration (previously created with VX-7 Commander) and noted that some of the radio-wide features were not displayed .. only the contents of the specific memory channels. Is there any plan to address additional configuration items as is done for the UV-5R? I also did not see a FMN or half deviation setting. - John 73's de K9RSQ

My question is, with all the different models. Just what is the difference if any between model a-b-c- and model E for instance. My model "E" will not work with my plain UV-5R. The dealer I bought it from is saying that I need a cable specific for this model. Is this untrue? Is there a difference that demands another cable? If so what newer model should I get as I try to return the two I bought for a friend and myself. Very Disappointed Thanks Alan

Thanks for the update guys ... CHIRP is a fantastic product. I was very surprised to find the breadth and depth of radios that it supports. Not having all the bells and whistles of a vendor specific product does not impact from its usability in any way. Focusing on the memory channels as a priority makes good sense. To all. There is some difference even between BFB927 radios.Some minor changes at the factory. I sent the bug 463 and 465. Jim was working on this.I know the latest build seems to have solved the issues with all the ones I have here.(8 units) I'd suggest: #1 do a menu 40 reset all. #2 uninstall chirp #3 get the latest daily build. #4 download from the problem radio.The image from one BFB297 to Another BFB297 can be two different images and not compatible because of the change in firmware on the radio.Even though they are all BFB297 there seems to be two versions of BFB297.. #5 Upload the image to test compatibility. #6 you can try to upload to other radios with the two versions but may only get the memories not the extra goodies. #7 let me know if there is anything else. I've been doing some digging as well.There is a definite difference between some BFB297's to other BFB297's.Knowing the Chinese they fixed or added something and never bothered to give it a new revision.this happens! The answers are 1= Yes 2= yes 3=I tried that 4= Yes I did 5= Yes it is always the same radio that gives me trouble, I know this because I have uploaded repeaters to the 1st radio, and it had more frequencies loaded. It is only one radio that is a problem. I believe it may be more cost effective just to purchase an additional unit and see if it still occurs. I can have one in in about two or three days.I will see if that works. Also there is a Baofeng dealer in my city. Anyone developing support for the Anytone AT-5888UV? I own two radios and to be honest their software sucks big time. It will crash if you breath too hard sitting at your PC. Not sure what all the program developers would need to work on software for this radio, but I'd be willing to contribute actual programmed files and the software can be downloaded from imporcommunications.com. Prolific driver for OS-X Mountain Lion 32 and 64 bit installed correctly. Verified using: ioreg -c IOSerialBSDClient | grep usb and kextstat | grep usb port appears in /dev as cu.usbserial device shows up in networking as cu.usbserial device shows up in chirp as USB-Serial (name I gave it.) When I read from the radio the read (clone) dialog box appears but no data is received, the green light on the radio doesn't blink and then after a few seconds a dialog box stating communication error appears.
