[chirp_users] FM Narrowband

Dan I tried to set the FM Narrow option on the FT-8800, the mode only seems to give me options for FM & AM. Using other software I have options of FM, FMN, and AM. We are stating to go NarrowBand FM here in the DFW area to attempt to free up some frequencies for more repeaters. What do you need to add this mode ? Would a set of files similar to the ft-60 files work ? one for FM , one for Am and one for NFM ? Allan R. Batteiger WB5QNG

[chirp_users] SOLVED: Problems under Ubuntu 11.10?

This is my last thread butchery for the day, promise! I found out what the "problem" is, if there really is one. Its more like user error, certainly not a problem with Chirp its self. The "problem" is the Unity interface under Ubuntu. The menu bar is taken away from the app window, and stuck up at the top of the screen but kept invisible until mouseover. When Chirp starts up, it is not full screen and has nothing to display. However, if the user moves the mouse to the top of the screen, the menu bar appears and the app is quite useable. The most intuitive way around this is simply to maximise Chirp - the top of its window then sits below the menu bar and everything feels reasonably good! Chirp seems to be programming my UV-3R very nicely indeed - I'm over the moon that I can have the same memories in my 3R and my VX-6 with ease! Unity is pretty, but it does have its usability problems from time to time, hi! Thanks and 73, Dave M0MYA.

I meant that CHIRP should be setting the flag any time it changes a memory. No change to this functionality was intended, nor do I think any was really made. CHIRP would inherit the flag already set in the memory if it didn't set it. Looking at the code, both the 8800 and 8900 should be setting the flag to display the alpha tag. No, this change was just to force the flag to "on" if there is a name set, and force it off if not. Hi all, I need someone to send me a couple of FT-60R images with a single change made. This is so I can fix something in the driver. Since I don't have one here, I could use the help. I need the person to: 1. Download an image of the radio 2. Toggle the "mem name/frequency" setting on one channel (i.e. change it from either showing the memory to showing the frequency, or vice-versa) 3. Download another image of the radio 4. Hello All, My first post here, so I hope I'm in the right place! I'm Dave M0MYA, a radio amateur from the UK. My main interests are operating homebrew and /P. I'm trying to get Chirp going under Ubuntu 11.10 in order to program my Baofeng UV-3R. I'm a reasonably experienced linux user of a few years now, so I'm not afraid to tinker, but I can't seem to get chirp going. All extracted and tried running from a console. It fires up, but only gives me a blank window. It can be closed from the window bar, with nothing spat out on the console. Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Package python-gtk is not available, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only available from another source E: Package 'python-gtk' has no installation candidate So - my guess here is the the shiny new Ubuntu does not make python-gtk available in the repositories. I notice that chirp supports the UV3R but has anyone tried to program the new UV3r MarkII which has the dual display. I am awaiting the programming cable but thought I would check first and see if anyone has had success with the new dual display model (I think it came out in September 2011). Tnxs, Mike AE7OZ
