I gave up trying to programme my Baofeng UV-5RV2+ using the previous CHIRP release. When CHIRP next came out, I thought maybe I could get it to programme my radio. I went through the steps to grab an *img file and load it into the radio. Then I saved it with modifications then downloaded, with a window saying "cloning". Exiting CHIRP, turning the radio off and on does NOT change the file. Am I doing something wrong? Greetings, A new build of CHIRP-next is available. This includes changes made directly to the tree since yesterday and may include additional features, bug fixes, etc. As a reminder, this is different from the "daily" CHIRP builds in that new development and features are happening here. It is the latest and greatest, but also may be less stable than the "daily" builds at this time. If it works for you, we recommend using CHIRP-next, but if your radio is not yet working on it, then you may prefer to use the "daily" builds for the time being. I was on the MMS engineering development and post-launch data analysis team, and always thought that PhDs needed to hire some slug to name their projects. I am a long time user of CHIRP and I just realized there is a key bit of knowledge I lack... and unless I'm missing it... it is also missing from the web site's FAQ. Where did the name come from? Does CHIRP stand for something? Did Dan's first radio keep chirping at him every time he pressed the wrong button? 😉 Inquiring minds want to know... (and I'm preparing to teach a class on CHIRP...) I understand the LIVE reminder when reading the IC-7100 memory banks into Chirp, but how do I load a data file to program the damn thing?. Either I'm thick or I'm missing something, or both ! 73 Mike G8NXD

I have a Kenwood TM-V7 and a Baofeng UV-5R, along with the appropriate programming cables. I'm running Linux, and write python, php, and rust for my day job. Are there any tasks or features I can help build or test? Thank you, Jim Keener KC3NPJ
