[chirp_users] Yaesu FT-90 cable question

Hello, I've come into possession of a Yaesu FT-90r dual-band 'micro' mobile radio, and I'd like to program it with my computer. I see several people offering cables for prices varying from $20-30, and I wondered if anyone here has advice on which cable to get/use? I like Blue Max 49ers ( https://bluemax49ers.com/product-explorer/yaesu-ft-90-ftdi-ct-29c-6-ft-radi… ), and their cable is right at about the mid-point of the price range ($26.95 w/ free shipping), but I thought I'd ask here first. I see current CHIRP claims to support it, can anyone personally confirm it does? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer, Ken, N2VIP

[chirp_users] Another group besides dialout

I am running chirp-next the june 3rd version on ubuntu 22.04. I am a member of the dialout group. I cannot connect to my FT-65 unless I run chirp with sudo, so I have some type of permissions issue. Is there another group I need to add myself to? Thanks -- Robert W9RWB WRPH745

I have used several of his cables for various radios and scanners, and all of worked very well. Removing the old package and installing the new one worked, but there should be a more "efficient" method... Hello, First, I'd like to thank the team that created and maintains this great program. Such a useful tool. I'd like to report an issue with the program where the row height in the memory display is not sticky when the font size is changed to large font. If the large font is set and the program is exited, when reopened the larger font is displayed in the narrow height, cutting off the bottom of the characters. Thanks. -- Best Regards, Michael

When trying to follow the upgrade instructions on the ChirpOnLinux page, there seems to be an error or some information missing. "Once chirp is properly installed, upgrades to newer versions are done with two simple steps: 1. Download the newer .tar.gz file. 2. Run pip install --upgrade ./chirp-<version>.whl (use pipx if you used it above)" Since I'm running Ubuntu 23.04, I used "pipx" to install the latest CHIRP. Today, a new version came out so I downloaded the latest .whl version and ran "pipx install --upgrade ./chirp-20230601-py3-none-any.whl" But pipx doesn't have a "--upgrade" option to the install verb. If I try pipx without the "--upgrade" option, it tells me: 'chirp' already seems to be installed. Not modifying existing installation in '/home/jon/.local/pipx/venvs/chirp'. Pass '--force' to force installation. Should I "install --force" it? "pipx reinstall" doesn't work, since the new version isn't installed yet.
