I have "chirp daily" installed on my Linux Mint 18 laptop. Recently, I attempted to connect to my HT and the program did not start. So, I tried at the command line, and encountered this: alexm@alexm-Surface-Pro ~ $ sudo chirpw Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/chirpw", line 20, in <module> from chirp import chirp_common ImportError: No module named 'chirp' Any ideas?? Hi Jeff, Chris here. I had the same problem some time ago, it was never resolved because like yourself I could no longer log in to the site. I'm using windoze ten on an Intel-alike PC. I'd try logging-in on a Raspberry Pi but I can't remember either the new or the old password now... I'm not even sure that this reply will work. This reverts that change to the less-broken original state while we try to figure out something that will work for all models.

Hi chirp_users. I am having trouble understanding Chirp. I have no problem programming my Baofeng UV-5RA HT direct from the ht's onboard keyboard. I don't understand some of the columns on the Chirp display after uploading the ht's memory. The memory in the ht should be clean after the factory reset. In the attached picture memory channels 1 to 10 are the way all of the memory channels are after the memory up load to Chirp after the ht factory reset. Now to the collumns, I know the column (tone) is for the tx ctcs and I assume that the (tonesql) is the rx ctcs. Why do the ctcs columns have 88.5hz in both columns. Those columns should be empty or 00.0 like in ch 11 in the attached picture. And what are the columns DTCS code,DTCS rx code DTCS pol. Why is there numbers and letters in the DTCS columns? Cross Mode I know, Duplex I know, offset I know, mode and power I know. Somewhere in Chirp is the setup to program the displays MDF (A) and MDF (B). I have seen a lot of chats saying it is there but no direct info to find it. I could use some help please. Hi chirp_users. I have a Baofeng UV-5RA HT. I am trying to reset up the HT the way it was after #40 (factory reset) in the HT's menu was hit. I remember most of the layout of the HT's memory when I looked at it via Chirp, but I never saved it. The layout as I remember starts at memory ch 1. From ch 1 to about ch 30 was filled with ham repeater frequencys and simples ch's. all on the (A, top display). Then there was about 20 blank ch's. The 21st ch had FRS1 on the 21st memory ch and so on. I don;t know how to setup the 21st memory ch to on the (B) lower display FRS1 and to rx/tx to the other FRS ht's that I have. Found a really weird bug on my UV5R today by accident. If you have one, try it and see if yours does the same thing. Press and hold PTT. While holding PTT push 1 on the keypad and hold for 5 seconds. This of course sends DTMF #1. If you release the PTT while still holding the 1 button, the radio stays in transmit mode with the microphone on even though the display says it's back in receive mode. I found no way to stop the transmission except to turn off the radio. Dennis M.
