Hello, I have a website that generates several radio programming formats, including the "Travel Plus Export" format, or TPE. A user is complaining that the CHIRP software imports all 70cm repeaters with a 0.6 Mhz offset even if the file itself shows a 5.0 Mhz offset. I can not get my UV-5R to recognize a 2 meter repeater at all. I've set the offset and every known variable. Does anyone have a suggestion? It's a repeater in Dublin, VA at 146.67 and one in Perarisburg, VA at 147.135 . Thanks

Hi Mike, Do you have another radio that works on these repeaters and can you check the settings in the working radio against the UV-5R? Does it transmit on the correct frequencies? Does it receive on the correct frequencies? As others have already suggested do the repeaters need PL to activate? Are the repeaters working? Hi I used the chirp software on my radios and it works properly on the UV-5R with bios version 291 but with ver 293 it disables the transmit function. I have Kenwood TH-F6A and TH-D72A. Is group memory naming possible in CHIRP? There are also some missing D72A menu settings, like uploading a boot or gps-only picture. Apparently this is an issue on the radio, not with the Chirp software. After programming the offset with Chirp, it operates on the local repeater (with the offset that I put in Chirp) as it should even though it doesn't display the offset on the radio menu. I should have tested this out a little more before submitting the first message. I realize this is a new version of the firmware for this radio and that there are several compatibility issues and such (like with the Settings menu), so this may already be a known issue. When using the CHIRP daily-20121106 software, if you set an offset (0.600 for example) in the software and upload it to the radio, then go to the offset menu item on the radio it will just show 00.000. 73, Daniel KK4MKZ

CHIRP remembers the last com port it used. It doesn't check to see if you changed USB slots. Am I wrong or is there a copy & paste function? Also, when I downloaded my original load to the chirp software the PL tones that I used in the other software transferred over fine, but when I add frequencies using the chirp software for my UV5RC, I input the PL tones, but after I hit OK, they go back to the default. Hello Gang. I have a question. When I put split frequencies into chirp for public safety frequencies and send it to my radio it seems to upload fine. But when I download from radio back to chirp at a later time the duplex and offsets change to + or - in that column and offset changes also. the duplex and offset change automatically. Running CHIRP daily-20121012 Upon upload of memories, many memories (but not all) have the IPO and ATT conditions set even on broadcast FM band, aircraft band, 144 & 450MHz. >From the front panel, neither of these bits are allowed on 144 or 450MHz. Since the IPO button is disabled above 6m, the IPO cannot be turned off, so presumably the ATT is also set as it is for 6m and below. This is easy. The "Dual Watch" function is doing that. The radio switches automatically to whichever line, A or B, has radio traffic, or even just noise that breaks squelch. I am new to this list, so please forgive me for asking the obvious question. I have checked the FAQ and did not find my answer. I recently purchased two Baofeng UV-5R, firmware BFB291. I am unable to program these radio with Chirp software. Any idea when update for Chirp will handle this new firmware? I tried using factory software and getting communication errors. Hi all I have been trying to get the latest version loaded. What is the latest version? I have followed Tom Hayward's instructions to have ppa added but I am still on version 0.1.12. I used Synaptic Manager to remove it and then reinstalled it and added the three app-get instructions to add the ppa. Is there more I need to do. Marty kd8bj

With this version, interfaced with UV-5R, the duplex isn't downloading (sticking) as well as the RX CTCSS frequency. Known bug or user error?
