[chirp_users] Btech UV-5X3

Power on massage field is grey'd out for Btech UV-5X3 so cannot set message. No error messages. All other features to upload programing to this radio work ! I can activate the power on message via the radio menu but it reverts back to no message after uploading from CHIRP. I tested this same daily build to activate the power on message on a BF-F8HP, BF-F8+III as well as a Yaesu FT2900, all worked without issue? Radio firmware is in the 2nd graphic below Third graphic below, for reference, is BF-F8HP showing active power on message field

Hi, recently found some RT22s that we want to program so I grabbed one of our current ones that is already programmed and went to download from radio on chirp and I continue to get the error ‘radio identification failed’ Any solutions??? Sent from my iPhone

Yaesu ft 2900 vs 2980 Greetings to all radio guy's. I manage to download and upload to my Yaesu FT2980 without any issue using RT Systems USB-29 cable and the latest version of CHIRP; I also have a Yaesu FT2900 and using the same cable by RT Systems, CHIRP cannot see the radio. I have tried all models in the dropdown menue of the 29xxx series and none work. Any suggestions? For the second time I’ve gotten a warning from McAfee that there was a virus in the daily download, this time in chirp-daily-20210919-installer.exe. The first time I saw this behavior was with the 20210826 daily, before I was on the list to report it. The reported virus is Real Protect-EC!16F97D3AFE24 Not sure if it’s real or a false positive but I figured I should let you know. The file has been quarantined on my system. Kerry de kk4jo

The FT-8900 organizes its memory differently than the FT-8800. Instead of having two separate memories for the left and right sides of the radio, there is just a single memory bank. I have downloaded the contents of my 8900 onto chirp. When I view the settings it only shows one set of info, there is no way to edit the Left and Right hand sides separately. Mac macOS Big Sur V: 11.5.2 Chirp Chirp daily-20210814 QYT KT-8900D Having once successfully uploaded to the QYT radio (yes, I downloaded first then copy/past and uploaded to radio), I magically can not get the computer/radio to clone. For Download to radio I Use: PORT: /dev/cu.usbserial-1420 VENDOR: QYT MODEL: KT8900D All software/drivers up to date. Anyone have an idea how I can use the computer/cable/radio set again??? Tim

Yaesu FT270 H/H Greetings, so far I have used CHIRP with 100% success in programming many radios. What I REALLY need is being able to program the YAESU FT270 Hand Held. When is one of you brilliant guys going to update CHIRP with this radio? [chirp_users] CHIRP under Debian Linux

Unfortunately, CHIRP under Slackware on my wonderful SLINT.fr installation variety is failing to work. I prefer to run Debian because it has many more CLI - Command Line Interface - programs than Ubuntu. Does anyone have a proven method of adding repositories to the /etc/apt/sources.list in Debian Sid? With hopeful wishes, I remain, respectfully yours. David N1EA =30=

Adding to my previous note: I was able to download the Retevis software and read/program my radio, so the comms between laptop & radio should be OK. When I went to the mfg website snd selected the RT98 Vhf radio, I was told to use the proper software based on my radios serial number. My radio serial # is 1907.... so I used V1.01, there is another version (1.02?) for radios with a higher serial number range. I suspect CHIRP isn't handling the particular model I have well. I'm good to program my radio for my needs, but I'm happy to help with testing/debugging if needed to improve support for this radio. [chirp_users] Wouxun UV9D MATE transmit range

Hello, thanks in advance for any help you may offer. As a member of my county search & rescue team, I have always used CHIRP to program my handhelds to be able to communicate on our county SAR channels, in the 155 range. With my old Wouxun KG-UV8D, there was an area in the CHIRP settings tab to expand the transmit range into these frequencies… I just upgraded to the KG-UV9D MATE. Although not listed in the official supported radios list for CHIRP, the radio does connect and is programmable as a KG-UV9D PLUS. Understandable as they are practically the same radio. However, the same “transmit range” field that is available in CHIRP settings when I connect to my UV8D isn’t available on the 9D. Is this something that might become available in an update, or is there a workaround? TIA Chris Miller
