[chirp_users] Programming question

Friend bot an 82C. Wanted to make some changes to what he programmed so sent me the *img file. I opened it in Chirp and made the changes. When I went to send it back I cannot seem to have the file save the changes I make - it simply reverts back to the "old" file. - Is the file unique to him and his radio so I am unable to make changes on my PC and have them saved? - Do we need to use the import/export function to make, save and reinstall the corrected program?

Tried programming radio with software that came with the Prolific Chip cable, it would not display text. Downloaded CHIRP Daily dated 4 Jan 2020, but could not find radio in list. Tried several other radios without success. What do you suggest? If you are interested in trying it, grab it from the following location: http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/daily-20200104 A list of the changes included in this build (since the last daily) follows: Changes for Build #607 [Bernhard Hailer <ham73tux(a)gmail.com>] [vx8] #129, #1735 (same issue): fix for incorrect channel initializations (resubmission) Users complained that under certain circumstances 2m repeaters with negative offsets were not programmed correctly and resulted in a frequency offset or even an incorrect transmit/receive mode. Both issues #129 and #1735 essentially describe that same problem for the Yaesu VX-8. I ran into the same issue with a VX-8DR I just got - which made me dig into Chirp Two bytes were found to be initialized differently when manually programmed, both were marked "unknown". After a few experiments these bytes could be (at least partially) identified. (A side product was that I found the bit responsible for narrowband transmit - that will be used in another patch fixing issue #1615 to enable this radio for Chirp's "NFM" mode). Tested with a VX-8DR. 73 Bernhard AE6YN #129 #1735

[chirp_users] error message when attempting to connect to CHIRP

I have a Rugged RH5R-V@ (Baofeng UV5) and a Baofeng UV82C. I have a Baofeng PC03 FTDI dual pin cable. When I attempt to download my radio's information (rugged rh5r) while connected to CHIRP, following all instructions, I receive the error massage; "An error has occurred" Radio did not respond. Can someone help me figure out what the problem is? Dennis Boxdorfer
