I see there is a py3 branch. What is the state of CHIRP on Python 3? I am intending to further improve the FT70 driver, and a pal as an FT3 which he has done some outline memory mapping work for. Should we be developing against the py3 branch? Thanks. Nicolas

Will there be a 64-bit version of the Python app in the KK7DS Python runtime or should Mac users just update the version of Python that they're running on their own to keep Chirp working when updating to macOS 10.15? Jim Unroe, Just saw your response below to the UV-9 programming issue. I do not have nor can locate the factory software or programming cable. They have Baofeng UV-9, not 9R, but UV-9. There are no manufacture labels except in the battery compartment. It appears to be a UV-5R variant as it incorporates the Kenwood standard 2-pin plug and a 5R spkr-mic works with the radio. I'm using the same cable that I use with my 5R but the radio fails to respond to Chirp no matter what radio model I use in the Baofeng and BTECH listings. Is there a preferred for this radio. By the way, it doesn't show a firmware version on power-up. 73, William

Nick: I have been following this thread, because, like you, I have one of these Baofeng A58 S radios. Unfortunately, I have been unable to find ANY software that will let me read or write to the radio. What success have you had? If you found a version of the OEM software that will let you work with this HT, where did you find it? Thanks. Hi all, I am a little out of my depth with my Chirp connection to my Yaesu FT7800 on my MacBook (OS 10.14)....('had no issues earlier with a Win 7 machine and this cable). Chirp is returning "could not open port /dev/cu.monic-SerialPortService: [Errno 16] Resource busy: '/dev/cu.monic-SerialPortService'" Mac OS Sys info returns: *USB-Serial Controller:* Product ID: 0x2303 Vendor ID: 0x067b (Prolific Technology, Inc.) Is there a way to change the LOC number/order in an downloaded document (Yaesu VX-3R) via Chirp ? My Frequencies are in a random order. I would like them in ascending order. John

I just received the above radio and am having a bit of trouble with the way CHIRP (or the radio) is handling the channels after programming. The radio seems to work fine, the programming cable connected right away without any driver drama, and the factory software even loaded up and will upload and download to and from the radio, but it's otherwise mostly useless**. Chirp seems to work fine as well as far as reading and writing to the radio, and I was able to import UV-5R files without any problem. The problem I'm having is the order of the channels is scrambled when uploading or downloading. I THINK it has something to do with the separate A and B memory banks. I made sure I selected the "A" bank on the Settings screen, but it still seems to scramble the channels. Earlier today I manually entered twelve local repeaters and numbered them channels 1 through 12, all in Bank A, but when I downloaded the radio to CHIRP, the #1 channel was now #4. I also deliberately didn't give any of the manually entered channels names, but there were channels with names scattered in with the other unnamed channels, apparently from Bank B. If anyone has any ideas I'd like to hear them. ** The factory software has two separate screens for Bank A and B, and seems to work fine moving files to and from the radio.
