[chirp_users] Help with VX5 clone to CHIRP, "Checksum Failed" error

Hello, I’m a new user trying to do a memory dump to CHIRP using CLONE on a Yaesu VX5. Using a standard serial port to 4-pole plug cable into the VX5 MIC jack. WinXP SP3 and CHIRP daily-20191119. Serial port COM1 seems to be working properly. “CLONE TX” is initiated on the VX5. Progress bar appears and moves from start to completion. Then a window appears “An error has occurred”, “Checksum Failed [0000-1FB9(@1FBA)]" The VX4 display hangs at “CLONE TX” Note that I also tried with a properly installed USB-Serial cable connecting to COM5 (different serial port) with exactly the same behavior as above. Any suggestions on how to get this working?

Trying to program Uv50X2 and since this last update, it will not offer the option to set any of the menu items anymore such as scanning options etc. It will take the programming of channels and names but does not offer any menu options. Then when I revert to an old img file, it does not recognized the menu items that are in place from before so the channels I program via work mode do not program. I've tried doing a reset of both "ALL" and "VFO" only via the onboard menu but it still is not doing a hard factory reset. Help!!!!

Hi Darby, Your radio has flipped a bit in memory that has caused 1or more settings to be out-of-range. Email a CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) to me or attach it here and I will correct it and send it back to you. Hi, Using Linux Mate recent install, 16.043, I installed Chirp, and the Baofeng UV 5R is indeed in the list under Baofeng, but I installed Chirp in my windows a couple weeks ago, and I found UV 5X, but I did not find UV 5R. Is X the same in this case? Thanks. ,

[chirp_users] having difficulty logging into the trouble track/report system

I've never successfully logged in; password reset sends email to reset the account, but still won't let me in. If sysadmin can contact me, I'd like get the login straightened out to be able to do something useful for the group (retired software engineer). == Paul L.
