Hi All, I am programming an IC-2100 and along with the intended memories it is displaying blank ones in the number slots above as well as A/B/C etc. Any ideas why? Thanks! JOnathan

[chirp_users] UV-5R EX problem

Hi, I got the new variation on the uv-5r (uv-5r ex). Trying to get it to program I kept getting "radio fail to respond". I discovered if you put pressure on the radio end of the cable you can read the radio. Evidently the jack is recessed a little more than on that model so it won't reach to make contact. You might can trim the connector back a bit and make it work. I'll try that next..73 Alan --

Don't forget that some of those channels will be for data, TV, satellite, calling frequencies, etc. After that you've got the 'all-modes' sections to go at, but be very careful down there because a lot of the frequencies are also dedicated to data, TV, satellite, and calling frequencies. When I program my Baofeng I have 129 Memory Channels for different Frequencies. If I had a million Memory Channels, how many could I fill for 2 meter? Thank you, Clark

Check in your users' manual to see for that particular model. Most have 127 (128 if you count channel 0) channels, although it get fun when you have some of the later ones with dual and tri-band thngies. CHIRP calls the "Memories" in the upper left of the page.
