[chirp_users] Unable to Install CHIRP software to Windows 10

Hei, I am new to CHIRP web site and CHIRP software. I got an error when I down loaded the CHIRP software to my Windows10 PC. I am not able to open the software when I have done a succefull and complete installation. What do I need to do? 73, Torbjørn, LA8TP

⁣ Finally got the Ubuntu mini.iso to d/l without error, got a FULL INSTALL of Ubuntu v16.04 on a USB Thumb, got Dans ppa set in the repository, and got 'chirp-daily' to d/l and install..... (thanks to the wifi at Buddha Thai Kitchen in Middletown - best Thai food in the area) Yippee !!!!! Looks like my radios shall finally get programmed... Checked the BTech UV-5X3, the UV-82HP, and have spent the remainder of the afternoon researching freqs and programming the Leixen VV-898S... Need to order the cable for the VX-8DR (Yaesu), and the UV-50x3 (BTech) in the truck, but I see those in the list in Chirp, so I'm very hopeful at this point... Perhaps it's time for good things to start happening here... FINALLY !!! Thanks for putting up with my rants over the last year+... Thanks to all that offered input. Greetings again CHIRP'rs I now have a Yaesu FT2900 that I would like to program with CHIRP. I have a Prolific cable and found the 'pin out' on the mike socket ( #4 GRD - #6 CLONE) I go through the sequence to get the radio into 'CLONE' mode and then to 'TX' but the response I get from CHIRP is "The radio is not responding" and "ERROR" on the radio LCD readout. Hello Jardy & Todd thank you for the info, I found the pinout diagram and have used a RTSystem cable and their software which all works well. Did not have any luck with CHIRP :-( 73's Eric P.S. I am about to present you all with another request in my next emaail!

Thanks Baji for the link.... I checked it out and could not locate the file that is mentioned in the 'reddit url.' using CMD prompt in Windows XP... Windows could not locate the file anywhere. I have a couple of Prolific usb dongles that I can wire to usb... but would need the 'pin-outs' for the FT270 Jack plug (TX-RX-GND). Maybe someone out there can help out with a diagram? 73's Eric VE7ECJ

Yeap, i tried with Prolific and FDI and no luck with CHIRP....I have a RT USB cable and was lent the programming CD by a friend and it all worked ok...but only with the RT cable & software.
