I too am having trouble since migrating to the latest MacOS. When I initiate an Upload from Chirp to my Yaesu VX6-R (note: I placed a mirror so I could watch the lights on the cable usb connector.) I get both the red and green lights lit simultaneously. They remain lit for a short while and the chirp progress screen shows a few blocks before the lights stop; the chirp progress screen continues for a couple of seconds; but ERROR has already popped up on the vx6r screen displayed on the vx6r. So, I turned to Terminal to look for error output. Below is what came up. Can someone interpret this error stream and provide some guidance on how to proceed? I carefully installed both the latest Chirp for MacOS and the latest Python. I last used Chirp successfully in Dec 2016. At that time all went smoothly with no hitches. I recognize that MacOS changed a couple of times as well as Chirp and the rest. [chirp_users] OS X chirp issue

Hi chirp users, I cant get chirp running on OS X. I remember having this issue ages ago and ended up just using linux. I have followed instructions at http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/MacOS_Tips#Application-Secur… and granted privs to app with $ spctl --add $PWD whilst in the folder, subsequently prompted for user/pass. Chirp doesn't open by double clicking, one bounce in dock then disappears. Trying to open from terminal reveals LSOpenURLsWithRole() failed with error -10810 for the file /Users/myhomedir/Downloads/chirp-daily-20171104.app Any help appreciated, as I must be missing something? PS I am on OS X 10.12.5 Simon

[chirp_users] BaoFeng BF-F8+ issue

I'm attempting to program a second BF-F8+ radio identical to my first one, but no matter what I try I can not get the power on beep to turn off. I have verified all settings in CHIRP to be correct, as well as those in the radio (to the best of my knowledge). One radio does not beep on power up (which is what I prefer), the other does. Any suggestions?

You don't say what the unit is. If it is e.g. a VHF-only device with only about 20 repeater channels you could do worse than pasting a screen-shot into Word via Paint and printing it. Very easy to do, and useful provided you don't want to alter it very often. I recently bought a BTech UV-5x3 and found that the Wouxun cable works just fine for it...sort of. I had to trim away a lot of the rubber/plastic so it fits all the way into the radio. On my Win7 machine I had no problem loading frequencies. My Win10 machine, however, was a different story. It kept replacing the working cable driver with the "best" driver that doesn't work at all. So I cracked open the USB end and replaced the Prolific interface with an FTDI interface. After finding out that the RxD and TxD wires are reversed, I got it going on both machines. The load from a stock source is a real nice touch! -- Dave - AC2GL

I have noticed multiple bug reports for this issue but not sure if there is a resolution. WHen programming a TYT9800 (i have the "plus" with repeaters, The offset is not saved properly to the memory. I believe that it actually saves the TX/RX frequencies so the repeater will work as long as you do not change anything. Hi all, I have done a search regarding support for the Baofeng GT-5TP as I didn’t find it in the list when connecting to it. I recently got a couple as I have had UV-5R’s and wanted new less beaten up handhelds. CHIRP doesn’t like them when selecting other model numbers, the results range from just timing out/reporting wrong model/ reporting too much data. The CHIRP Site says to use “UV-82HP” It errors out with “Incorrect ‘Model’ selected” (on version “daily-20171104”) I have been able to use the extremely hokey application from Baofeng called “UV82 Series Program Software.( US2S35 VIP Version)” The details of firmware I can find when turning on are: (“3” when turning on) Ver N82301 (“5” when turning on) 160408N Any suggestions/updates appreciated. If there is any steps I can provide or give report access to my pc with the radio attached please let me know. I don’t model making international calls either. But until that happens for you, as simple workaround is to set TOT to it's lowest value. The the radio will only transmit for 15 seconds and timeout. Then download from the radio into CHIRP, program a channel that has TX inhibited (Duplex = "off"). You can then set TOT back to its original value and from now on select the TX inhibited channel whenever you are going to program your radio. Jim
