Please read carefully and you will see that I am not having radio problems I am having software problems. I was trying to use CHIRP with Windows Vista Business. I already have UV-5 and UV-82 loaded and they work, but when I try to run Chirp I get the following: C:\Program Files\CHIRP\chirpw.exe The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more details. I am using chirp-daily-20150702-installer and the cable driver I am using is Win_Driver_Prolific_3.2.0.0 and it works fine on Windows 7 and 10 John Milkor suggested I contact you. Larry Nation K0SLZ

I bought two baofeng radios, one is UV-82C an the other is BF-F8H and I can get neither one to up load to the computer it says in the paper i got with the radios that the small CD disc has all the software on it but when i click on it open it there is just a bunch of files, it says in the instructions that to click on the radio on the menu bar but so far I have found no menu bar with a radio to click on. It says I have to upload to the computer before I can program the radio OKAY what do I have to do get past this point. I'm lost I can't even get started till this happens. thank you Jim KM6WC CM97iw

[chirp_users] Error- Radio rejects download

I have a Baofeng UV-5R radio and am attempting to download from radio and get the error that radio rejects download. I have the programming cable for the radio from Baofeng and it is a USB on the computer end. I even attempted to use another port on the computer.I get it to download from radio but gives me a new set of downloads. I then take the program I had manually set up on a Chirp screen and then export/import to the new download set up when downloaded to radio. I then attempt to download to radio. It will not clone and it says radio rejects clone, or radio rejects download. The manual does not have much information that came with the radio. I thought if I did a factory reset on the radio and wipe out all that was on the radio and then do the download from and to radio it might work but i can not find where to even do a factory reset on the radio. Hello! I recently bought this radio and was very excited to get chirp to work with it. However, it seems like the nuances of "a+" are different than id-51. I've seen some related posts which lead me to believe that *one* could get this working: http://intrepid.danplanet.com/pipermail/chirp_users/2014-October/006699.html and a model support request: http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/2701 I was wondering if anyone is actively working on this? Hello All, I am trying to load CHIRP onto my desktop (Windows 7). I did check the FAQ and searched the CHIRP website before asking this question. I was looking for step by step instructions for installing CHIRP. My apologies if I overlooked it. What I have done so far is to click on the latest daily builds link. I then downloaded chirp-daily-20150702-installer.exe which when I open it brings up a blank page though there is a RADIO tab with options. I have yet to connect my radio to the computer as I have the computer cable on order. Do I also need to download the <http://trac.chirp.danplanet.com/chirp_daily/LATEST/chirp-daily-20150702.app .zip> chirp-daily-20150702.app.zip file? I did download and unzip it but now what? [chirp_users] IC-T70A SCAN behavior incorrect after being programmed

Folks, I programmed my IC-T70A using Chirp daily and it programmed successfully, however I found that during SCAN mode any T SQL channel has the beep icon displayed as it’s passed during the scan. If signal is found the radio starts beeping. This behavior is only supposed to be in place if pocket beep is on and therefore I thought it was a programming or firmware bug. I then used RT Systems IC-T70A app to download the memory and immediately program it back. The beep icon and issue went away. My conclusion is that either I’m using Chirp incorrectly to set T SQL or Chirp has a bug where it’s programming T SQL incorrectly. I noticed that Chirp has two identical strings named “T SQL” in the drop down menu and wonder if that could be related to the issue. Perhaps Chirp is programming the memory channel with T SQL with the beep bit turned on. Does this sound like a valid bug? If so, I will file it. Thanks

Hello all: Using the latest CHIRP (daily build 20150702) on a group of BaoFeng UV-82C. The last one I received causes Chirp to quit unexpectedly when I try to upload an image. I can download from the radio and upload new settings but not the cloned image from the other four UV-82C’s that I use. The program crashes and quits within the first 3 seconds of attempting an image upload to this one radio. I’m using MacOSX (10.10.4). Firmware is US2S25 on all five UV-82Cs. Any help appreciated. James

I just won a Baofeng UV-5R at our local hamfest today. Holding "3" down while I power on reports BFB-297, however when I run CHIRP and try to read the radio, CHIRP reports "Incorrect model selected" and I am unable to read the radio. However when I do the same thing using my older UV-5R that reports BFB-251, then CHIRP properly downloads the radio data. Has the Baofeng firmware changed that much? If it helps, the BFB-291 new radio has serial 13U1006381 and the BFB-251 older radio has serial 1010024752. The only difference on the label that I can find is that the older radio claims 480MHz as it's upper frequency, while the newer radio claims 520MHz. I am using the latest 'chirp-daily-20150702-win32' daily build under windows 7 and a FTDI cable, but did try one earlier version with the same results. Any suggestions, assistance, or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and effort. *.....Bob, VE5XEF*
