Interesting problem -- I had one of those older USB to serial cables that had the old Prolific chip in it and it was blocked by the newest drivers that are in Microsoft, so I purchased a Plugable USB to serial converter which is supposed to have the later version of the Prolific chip in it. I tried it using the RS92 software from Icom and it works just fine, but using it with chirp, it appears not to be communicating with the radio because if I disconnect the radio, I get the same information back as I do if the radio is connected -- all invalid. I don't suspect that the problem is in the cable, but it could be the issue and maybe I need to go out and buy a third cable with the acceptable chip in it to get chirp to work. Does anyone know what the voltage of the signals are coming from an IC92AD? Are they "true" RS232 signals (ie +12 to -12 volts) or are they TTL voltages 0 to +5 volts? Is there a way to tell the Prolific chip that these are TTL voltages and not RS-232 voltages? Maybe that would help some people. de WD6FIE Richard Ravich

I'm trying to resolve a operation function with my AT-5888UV. If you don't have any issue with receiving on both the UHF and VHF bands with one on the left and the on the right, I am after a CHiRP image downloaded from your transceiver. Thanks to anyone who can help me out Malcolm Larkin VK2FITH

Not enough information to be 100% sure what is wrong, but the most common problem with CSV files is an incorrect number of commas, especially the trailing commas at the end of each line. Hey all Got the new Baofeng BF-F8HP radio. Download the daily build suggest by the seller on Amazon. Got Chrip installed. Radio image loaded to Chirp OK Question is I have RT Systems software with all the data from my Powerwerx DB-750X loaded and I would like to import into Chirp and load the the F8HP. I have tried exporting as a CSV file from RT Systems, but the Chirps give an error on import. There are many more columns in RT with data than Chirp has and they are in a different order. I have search through several months of posts and did not find anything specific to my needs. Can some one direct me to a post or youtube video showing how to move the data from the RT software to the Chrip program that will function with the new BF-F8HP. Also I see that this radio has only 120 memory channels is that correct? Respectfully AD Sent from my iPad

Helle Robin, welcome to the group! Although I don't have a ready solution for your problem, I want to make clear that you don't need the cable connected to your computer te be able to start Chirp. Chirp is just a program, that will run at any time. It only needs the cabe (or more exactely a COM-port) to communicate with the radio. So, as long as you do not need to communicate with the radio (eg. because you want to edit a file) is will not matter if the cable is connected or not. Having said that, please disconnect te cable and see if Chirp starts correctly. This way you will be able to check if it is a Chirp problem or a cable problem that you have. When it looks like a Chirp problem, please try the stable version. I also use that version and it will work with the UV-82 (I use one). To check if the cable is installed correctly, please check your Device Manager, Ports (COM & LPT). Your cable should be listed there. It will also mention the COM-port-number that you will need to select in Chirp when you want to communicate with the radio later.
