The new ID-51 LE Plus model does not appear compatible with the normal ID-51 profile choice. Has anyone developed a working beta ? I can save or export my TH-F6A and TM-D700 memories as a .csv file but not as an .img or .chirp file. Yet my UV-82 can be saved as both .img and .csv files. So, of course, I'm curious what these four file formats are about and why some formats do not work with some radios. -- 73, Bruce, W4BRU

The computer seems to enjoy switching the COM port numbers from one day to the next! I have been able now to download, modify, and then upload a revised set of frequencies to the FT-8800R. The cable is difficult to put into the back of the radio given that I have the radio mounted under a shelf. The cable must be inserted into both the radio and computer before turning on the radio. If the cable is not connected to the computer, the radio thinks it should be transmitting! It seems that any project becomes much easier the second time it is done. Until you have had success, you are not quite sure whether the problems are due to a faulty procedure, hardware problems, not understanding the procedure, or mistakes! If someone has had experience connecting the FT-8800R to a computer, I would appreciate learning the correct procedure order for download and upload. The Yaesu manual reads: To clone from one transceiver to another, use the following procedure: 1. Insert the Cloning Cable into the DATA jack of each transceiver. 2. Turn both transceivers off, then press and hold in the "left" [V/M] key on each radio while turning the power on again. 3. Rotate the "right" DIAL knob on each radio to select (CLONE START), then press the [SET] key. The display will disappear for a moment, then the "CLONE" notation will appear on the display. 4. On the "destination" radio, press the "left" [LOW] key. The "CLONE -RX-" indicator will appear on the display. 5. Now, on the "source" radio, press the "left" [V/M] key. The "CLONE -TX-" indicator will appear on the display, and the cloning data transfer will immediately begin. Since the computer running Chirp will be the "TX" during download, and then "RX" during upload, there may be some question as to whether to initiate the download first in Chirp, or transmit from the radio first.
