Hi chirp_users. I have a Baofeng UV-5RA HT. I am trying to reset up the HT the way it was after #40 (factory reset) in the HT's menu was hit. I remember most of the layout of the HT's memory when I looked at it via Chirp, but I never saved it. The layout as I remember starts at memory ch 1. From ch 1 to about ch 30 was filled with ham repeater frequencys and simples ch's. all on the (A, top display). Then there was about 20 blank ch's. The 21st ch had FRS1 on the 21st memory ch and so on. I don;t know how to setup the 21st memory ch to on the (B) lower display FRS1 and to rx/tx to the other FRS ht's that I have.

Your radio has 128 memories (channels) numbered from 0 to 127. Both the top (A) display line and bottom (B) display line have equal access to all 128 memories. There are no banks and therefore no way to separate them into A only or B only banks.

A simple complete reset will get you back to "square one" minus the pre-programmed channels/memories. The pre-programmed memory channels were not the same on different versions or even the same versions of the same radio. Most just had FRS and GMR frequencies, which you can upload yourself with the help of Chirp.
Here's how: Open Chirp and connect radio.
Download the reset radio's image.
Click Radio and then Click US FRS and GMRS Channels [image: image.png]
Click OK [image: image.png]
Click Radio then Upload To Radio [image: image.png]
Click OK [image: image.png] That's pretty much it.
