[chirp_users] Chirp Daily / Ubuntu Xenial 16.04
All,
I am ruining Ubuntu Xenia 16.04 and am having trouble getting the chirp daily update to work. It looks like, perhaps, Ubuntu Xenial is not supported by the chirp daily release?
Thanks, Bob / KF3BY

It should work. Did you add the repository as described on the download page?

Jim,
Per the download page I do:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:dansmith/chirp-snapshots sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install chirp-daily
On the last setup, I get an error message indicating it can't find the chirp-daily First to commands give no error

Well, Xenial isn't released yet, so this shouldn't be too surprising. However, I just added it to the build so that it should happen on the next build. I have something to apply so when I do that, a build will be generated and there should be a Xenial package created.
--Dan
Dan,
Thanks for the confirmation! I assumed so as Xenial was new and as you say, not released. My fault for always wanting to be on the edge!
Thanks for your info!
Best regards, Bob

Looks like package python-support is missing from xenial. Build failed.

Dan,
Looks like there is still an error.
See below the report from my execution of the update commands in Ubuntu 16.04 Xenial.
Obviously nothing urgent here!
Thanks for all your help!!!

Yeah, that changed for Xenial. I made a tweak to the build that I hope will get us what we want.

It looks like it's working to me.

You need to uninstall the chirp package before installing chirp-daily. Apt should be doing this for you, but I don't know why it's not.

Dan,
I manually removed Chirp using the Ubuntu Software function and then re-ran the "sudo apt-get install chirp-daily" command and installed the update with no issue!
Thanks very much for your help!!
