[chirp_users] Chirp and radio parameters not agreeing
Hi, I have a Baofeng UV5RA. When I uploaded the parameters to chirp they did not match those displayed on the radio itself. Thanks, Don Stewart
Had you downloaded from the UV5RA first, made modifications to that downloaded image and then uploaded the modified image? What parameters didn't match? Might give the programmers some insight as to what is going on. I don't recognize your problem, I've not ever had problems with my Baofeng UV5 and Chirp.

This was just what I got from uploading to chirp from the radio. The frequency displayed on the radio and on chirp were different.

I also have a Baofeng UV-5RA and have so far not noticed any problems using it with Chirp, however I haven't got into CTCSS or anything other than simplex frequencies.
Which parameters don't match?
When you say "upload the parameters to chirp" presumably you mean radio
chirp, not the other way around?
The frequencies displayed on the radio and on chirp don't match

How much do they differ? Is it the same amount on each channel?
And are you sure you have the radio in Channel Mode not Frequency Mode? :)
With UV5R selected as the radio, I downloaded to chirp from the radio in the channel mode. chirp said Loc 1 was 451.860000 Loc 2 was 462.725000. then reading the radio in frequency mode I saw ch-1 was 451.872 and ch-2 was 470.637

I've just had a test with my UV-5RA... This could happen if your channels are duplex frequencies and you have Reverse turned on - then it will be displaying the TX frequency not the RX frequency. If there's an "R" in the display, press "*" and it should return to normal.
Can't see an "R" so still not sure. Maybe have to come back to this later.

On a long shot, have you tried a factory reset, a complete reset not just some parameters. I forget is the UV5 has two different levels of reset. Then upload your image to the radio and see what happens. I know from experience that radios which get all their operating instructions from the non volatile firmware which is stored along with modifiable ram can get corrupted and cause some real whacky symptoms. If you have a current image of your channels give it a try. When the radio reboots it will upload a fresh operating system from its firmware. Then you can upload your memory image. Might be the simple fix and I certainly would be the first to try it.

I'm still exploring alot of this, especially the UV5RA. I guess it is just part of the learning curve. I didn't initially put the frequencies in the radio. So as I said I'm still learning.

Hi Don,
It shouldn't matter if you are in VFO or MR mode when using CHIRP to read from or write to your radio.
Would you please save these differing downloads and email them to me along with a list of the frequencies that are in the radio?
Also do you have the Baofeng software installed? If you do, email me the .dat file saved from the radio too.
