Hi Glenn; if you can use notepad Try looking at your csv file with it. I see a difference in the record format starting at line 15. I'm not sure but I believe csv records are to be the same length. Also starting after 135 there are blank entrys. Looks like line # 136 to 137 are missing, also 139 and 140. I don't know if this your problem or not. It says error on line 169, but it always seems to reference the last line. The lines in question would be between the left most numbers of 127 and 140. Hi Dennis, I'm still using Excel. I made a couple changes and of course had to save it in Excel. Could you give it a quick going over? I moved my simplex down so I don't have a zero column, because the Tyt units don't apparently use zero for the first item. So I renumbered all of the channels after 28. Also starting after 135 there are blank entrys. Looks like line # 136 to 137 are missing, also 139 and 140. I don't know if this your problem or not. One thing to remember is that sometimes, but not all, Chirp errors are actually more notifications and if you proceed anyhow Chirp will fix the entry with default values.

Glenn , Dennis is correct. If you use Excel you will have put something in the last entry on each row or Excel will not fill out the record will ",". I use OPEN office It does not cause this problem. Or use Chirp it's editor works like a spreadsheet.

For some reason your excel file (saved as a csv file) is omitting the last five columns after channel 16 (line 17) down.

One thing to remember is that sometimes, but not all, Chirp errors are actually more notifications and if you proceed anyhow Chirp will fix the entry with default values.

What radio is this for? Some radios only have 128 channels (0-127). To add more than that won’t work.

The length of the line is not important. The number of commas (,) is. So from were the commas are missing at the end, the fields which should be the data for the next memory are being put at the end of the previous memory and every thing after that is in the wrong position.

Leaving the trailing commas off has been a known issue with excel. I used to have a workaround when I used excel but I use Libre Office now and don't remember for sure what the workaround was. I believe that if you populate the "RPT2CALL" column, then excel will put in the previous commas as expected. Since the "RPT2CALL" is a cell that normally populated with text, I believe what I may have done was to enter double quotes ("") or possibly a space surrounded by double quotes (" ") to make sure the trailing commas were always there.

The problem is that Excell introduces errors. LibreOffice (free download) is OK.

Glenn. I tried to load this file with chirp. It returned the error msg "Column number mismatch on line xx", where xx went 17 to 169. Your problems mostly have to do with using Excel. It introduces errors.

You can also edit in CHIRP. How's CHIRP for screen reader?

But if you use Excel, it will make the errors that you are encountering.

So for no errors, use CHIRP or use LibreOffice to edit, otherwise you will have errors as you are having now.
