[chirp_users] UV-50x2 / CHIRP Questions
Hello All, I have a new B-TECH UV-50x2 and I am using CHIRP to program it. I would like to have the display set up as: A: Name (2m band)B: Frequency (for A)C: Name (70cm band)D: Frequency (for B) Is it possible for A to scan 2m only and C to scan 70cm only, or, A&B to scan together and C&D to scan together? If so, what settings to I change in CHIRP to accomplish this? Thanks so much for your help.73'sDavid Mosley, LPOf all the roads you take in life, make sure some are DIRT!!!! Don't retreat, RELOAD!!!! Nope.... there is no way to scan "banks". It is all one memory bank. You cannot select bands to selectively scan.

I can't help yet, but maybe you can help me. I'm still trying to get mine to communicate with chirp at all.
Are you plugged into the front or rear jack?

Front jack is the programming connection. Rear jack is audio. Make sure the Tip-Ring-Ring-Sleeve plug is FIRMLY seated.

There is not data jack on the front of a UV-50X2. Both the speaker and data jacks are side-by-side on the rear of the radio. Be sure you have your programming cable plugged into the correct jack.

My UV50X2 has the data cable input on the front, it is actually stamped "Data". Also note it likely will show up on a different source than your handheld, even in the same USB port.

My bad. I don't use my UV-50x2 as much as my UV-25x4 and UV-25x2 (which both have the data port in the back next to the speaker jack) and forgot the UV-50x2 was different. It is indeed on the front.

Front jack is for programming, rear is for an external speaker. Be sure you have the correct cable.... You need the one from www.baofengtech.com I had problems with mine. Spent two hours via email with tech support ensuring that everything was current and correct. They shipped me a new cable and all is well. You can certainly set the A and C display lines to show names and the B and D display lines to show frequencies. You can also set it up so the A/B and C/D display lines stay automatically synced to the same channels. But you cannot separate 2m and 70cm frequencies. There is only 1 bank of 200 channels and each display line has equal access to them all.
