[chirp_users] FT-60r not receiving "on frequency"
Hi All, I'm trying to write to a FT-60r using the latest stable build and the latest dev build (2013-11-21). Using both versions of software, it seems that the radio is failing to receive on the correct frequency, even though Chirp shows the correct data was entered.
Example: Saving 477.3875 with a step of 12.5khz is being received by the radio as 477.380. I verified this by changing the memory settings from Alpha to Freq. A frequency of 477.380 is displayed in that memory location.
BUT - the strange thing is, if I read the configuration back via Chirp, it reads that 477.3875 was actually programmed into the radio in that memory location!
I'm just picking this single frequency as an example, but it seems that every frequency I programmed into the radio is "off".
If anyone can help me out here, that would be great!
Thanks again Phil / w2lie
Set the step resolution to 2.5 khz. That is if it is available.

Switch to NARROW mode and download your template. You should have the ability for 2.5 steps. If the software doesn't support it which I can think of no reason why, then you can manual program the steps in. Remember with the FT60 you have to recreate the channel structure in VFO mode then overwrite your channel to change.
The FT60 does support 2.5 steps when in narrow mode. How you match that up with programming via Chirp I don't know because I've not done it with software.
Milton.

Thanks for the advice Milton, but 2.5 isn't supported on this radio. Any other suggestions?

The radio is setup for "Narrow" using menu 55, so that wasn't the issue. The other thing Notice is when I look at a channel that is off, I change the setting from Name to Freq, example again 477.3875 becomes 377.3800. But when I move down or up a single memory slot, then come back to 477.3875/477.3800 is then displays as 477.3825. Step size is setup for "Auto" in the radio, but coded in CHIRP as 12.5
Even after reading back the radio in Narrow, I can't chose 2.5khz.

Well I'm stumped here. I thought Menu #55 would allow a 2.5 step. And not having programmed these frequencies into my FT60 with with software I'm just guessing. I'm sure someone will chime in and give you a yes or now answer and how to do it.
Good luck.

It sounds like Chirp is not sending the right bits to the FT-60 for that frequency, probably because it's an odd step size. Please submit a bug report with the same description you posted here. If you have a chance, save two channels from the front panel of your radio. One on 477.380 and on on 477.3875, but otherwise identical. Upload the img with your bug report and I'll examine the difference between the two channels you created.

According to Yeasu manual -- ' The FT-60R/E's synthesizer provides the option of utilizing channel steps of 5/10/12.5/15/20/25/50/100 kHz er step, as well as an automatic step selection based on the current operating frequency ("AUTO"), any number of which may be important to your operating requirements. Tom, I created a new case: http://chirp.danplanet.com/issues/1273 and assigned it to you.
It seems at a high level view that 477.3875 is set to 50.0khz spacing. When I tried to set all my 12.5khz UHF channels to 50.0khz, that didn't seem to fix anything.
Thanks for the help

I have programmed my FT60 using other software, for a couple .xxxx frequencies so I know my radio which I purchased in 2006 will take 12.5 steps. The radio itself can be set to narrow, 2.5khz. deviation for both rx and tx via its menu. So one would assume it should also accept 2.5khz steps and I've done some data mining that confirms this. Just my $.02 as a long time Yaesu owner.

Is it possible that the radio has a defect? I had something similar in a brand new Icom once. I sent it back to Icom, they fixed it, and told me that they found a cracked part causing the problem. Paul
