[chirp_users] I don't understand Switching from Ch mode to Freq mode
I have attached a snap shot of my programming. When I am in Channel mode I see the Name just fine and the radio hits and receives the repeater ok. But if I switch to Freq mode, the screen shows 146.100 no matter what channel I am on. I have never programmed that freq into the radio. What am I missing here? Why won't the radio show me the freq of the Channel I am on?
The UV-5R only has one memory bank. It fools many people. A/B in memory mode only switches between A and B selections of the same memory bank.
In frequency mode nothing is part of memory, it's just vfo and the settings in the menu.
I didn't explain this very good, but I am in a hurry. LOL

To see the frequency off the channel memory you are on, you need to go into the menu and choose from display name, display channel number, or display frequency. I do not know what menu number it is. A and B have different menu numbers to change the settings.

Thank You
I wish there were more You Tube videos on the UV 3X50. I was hoping that HamRadioConcepts would do an in depth review of this unit. He does a nice job, maybe BTech could contact him and offer him a UV-3X50 to check out. He has a huge following, could be good for the brand with the more conservative Hams out there.

Hi Walter,
I assume that you mean BTech UV-50X3. The advice above, which is intended to be for a Baofeng UV-5R/UV-82 style radio, would not be relevant for this model.

Hi James,
When the radio is in VFO (frequency) mode, there are no channels. You have access to 2 VFOs (the top [A] display line VFO and the bottom [B] display line VFO). You can enter any STEP compatible frequency within the band limits of each band (VHF and UHF). There are no names available in VFO mode.
When the radio is in MR (channel) mode, the display lines (the top [A] display line channel and bottom [B] display line channel) can have their Memory Display Format (MDF) to show either CH (channel) number, NAME or FREQ (frequency). You can set the MDF you want for either display line by using menu 21 (MDF-A) and menu 22 (MDF-B).
You can find out more detailed information about your radio's menus here: http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_MenuDef.php
