[chirp_users] Kenwood TK-762H

I have had the same issue with a 760H. Talked with Pavel. He seems to think its a firmware issue that he has not resolved at this time. Good luck. KC1EXK. On May 15, 2016 3:28 AM, "Tim Billingsley" kd5ckp@gmail.com wrote:

I am using Windows 10. The problem as explained to me is Windows program runs too fast . Radio cannot go into program mode fast enough before program times out. Pavel wrote a patch that made program try 3 times before giving up. That still did not fix problem. I asked about a month ago if any solution had been found, no reply. The only other way is to locate an older model computer that can run original MSDOS based software. Ebay about $130 plus price of software. Again good luck hate to toss my radio its in nice shape. Try downloading and running MOSLO, we used to use it for commercial software.

Would dosbox help? I seem to remember it has a feature to set clock speed.

Hi Tim and everybody,
I had a lot of work recently and was away for a while... and now I'm paying attention to the new variants of the mobile QYT/BTECH/Juentai/Sainsonic etc mobiles that are growing like grass in the spring. (I'm in change of the communication procedures for that also...)
I will revisit the Kenwood TK-760 driver as soon as I can get free time, sorry for the delay on solving this.

I apologize for the long delay. With health issues and an amount of tracel out of the way I have just tested 4 radios. 2 TK-762 and 2 TK-762H none worked. The CHIRP options of TK-760G & TK-762G appears to read from the radio then throws the error

Hi Tim, sorry to hear about your heard issues.
Can you please confirms that the cable interface is working? (it looks to me as a interface problem)
Also, your radios has the LCD backlight on?
There is a know issue with this radios about this: usually the kenwood interface for this radios take power from the radio not from the PC, and the power is taken from the same rail the LCD leds are powered.
For some reason with time (or a mic cable short) a medium power resistor burn out in the main board and get the front panel without +12V, that not a problem to the normal operation as it works on +5v, but the backlight gone off and the programmer has no power to feed from and always fails to operate.
Can you check that please?

Hi Tim, (I was off the grid by family vacations)
If the lights are off you have 90% chance of not having power to the interface, but, if you use a USB interface it may work... I have to check in the schematics but I'm pretty sure it will work with a USB programmer.

You don't say the error, but most problems come from having a fake Prolific chip. Go to Device Manager and check your comm port. If it says Prolific, roll your driver to 3.2.0.0. This can be found at Miklor.com.

Will this still be an issue if I am using a newer USB programming cable? Would it not get it's power from the USB?
