[chirp_users] Programming a BTECH UV-50X2
I just ordered a BTECH UV-50X2 and was going to download the latest version of ChiRP to program it. Looking at the list of supported radios, however, I see the UV-50X3 and the UV-5001 (the predecessor to the UV-50X2) but not my radio. Which model should I select? I suppose I could just try different ones and see which works, but I worry about bricking the radio. Any advice?

There's some mention of that model on this page:
https://www.amazon.com/BTECH-MOBILE-UV-50X2-Mobile-Radio/dp/B06XK83VRV
Only this models are officially supported: *BTECH*
- GMRS-V1 - UV-2501 - UV-2501+220 - UV-5001 - UV-50X3 - UV-5X3
It's your radio, if you want to take the risk using CHIRP on an unsupported radio, go ahead. The worst that could happen is that you convert a functioning radio into a brick of non functioning plastic. You can always buy a new radio.

There’s no risk at all. It’s just not mentioned on the CHIRP home page.

Thanks, John. I was hoping that was the case. I will download the latest version of Chirp and program my new radio when it arrives.

It is supported. All you have to do is choose "Download" then set Model to "BTECH" and all of the "X" models are listed.

Thanks. I did that and there it was. The software is running ahead of the web page (probably the right order of priority). Download and upload worked perfectly. Now I just have to decide on optimum settings for the huge number of variables that can be customized.

You need to download the Latest Daily Build. Although it doesn’t appear in the CHIRP support list on the homepage, the BTech 25X2, 25X4 and 50X2 are fully supported by CHIRP.
I have a 25X4 and 50X2 and that’s how I program them.

Bob,
CHIRP fully supports the Baofeng Tech (aka BTech) UV-25X2, UV-25X4 and UV-50X2 mobile radios. The Supported Radio Models list is manually maintained and adding these models just "slipped through the cracks". They are listed now.
