[chirp_users] Field names across different radios.
Across all the different radios that Chirp supports, are the field option names consistent?
To explain what I am asking: For example the tone column in chirp. If the radio manufacturer A's software uses "T SQL" and manufacturer B's software uses "TOME SQL" does chirp default all radios to TSQL? And this goes for all the columns. Another example would be the skip column does chirp always do S and "blank" even if the radio has yes and no or whatever?
The reason I am asking is that I like to keep my radios consistent with one another, and I like to copy and paste from one radio to another's CSV file. If they are all different naming conventions I have a lot of "find a replace" to do.
In the future I'd like to use chirp for frequency channels on all my radios, and the manufacturers software for menu items.
I hope I am clear on this and it explained it plainly enough.

Yes, columns are consistent across all radio types. Don't mess with CSV files. You can copy and paste between Chirp windows/tabs.

Got it. I think the shortest channel name is 6 characters on all my radios, and some are caps only.

True but the column headings are the same for all radios, which is what the original poster asked. Chirp will take account of the differences in column contents.

Actually Nigel, my question was about the contents of the fields. Are they the same for every radio? Does Chirp transpose TSQL to TONE SQL or T-sql (examples only) when it uploads the data back to the radio.
Generally I am trying to find out if most cut and paste data in chirp (or CSV files) of different radios will need any tweaking.

What is there to transpose? TSQL to TONE SQL or T-sql are only column headers. They all mean the same thing and, as groups of letters, do not get uploaded to the radio. They only exist within Chirp. Chirp only uploads the number in the box.

You can just copy and paste between Chirp tabs and upload to the other radio. Chirp will look after the radio's requirements. If you use csv and a spreadsheet program, be aware that Microsoft Excel is known to corrupt the spreadsheet by making unwanted entries in some empty cells. Better to use Libre Office or Open Office.

Nigel I am talking about the data in the columns.. forget the headers.
(Example only) To set some radios memory to Tone or DCS or tone squelch, outside of chirp (manufacturers software or RT) the actually data in the fields sent back to radio may be different. I've seen TONE SQL, TSQL, CTCSS. Plus some need all caps. I am asking if the data in the fields is the same across all radios in chirp and if Chirp will transpose it upon uploading to radio to reflect what the radio wants to see.
WHEW!!!

Chirp will sort out the data. Just download from the new radio first so that Chirp knows which radio you're uploading to. Don't invent problems that don't exist. Just use it.
