Like most that can't program their radio, you probably don't have a working connection between your radio and computer. There is nothing that any programming software can do to overcome that.
The #1 cause for Windows computers is not having a compatible device driver installed for the (counterfeit) Prolific chip in the cable.
The #2 cause is not having a good connection between the cable and the radio.

Here's a link to the cable I use. It works on a windowsxp laptop, windows 7 laptop, and windows 7 desktop with a baofeng 82c.

The thing that took me a while to figure out was the .img and .csv files. I had to open any .img file and then Import the .csv in order to upload my changes to the radio.

noticed you said u opened any img file....
have u actually READ your radio? ie does that work ok?
if so, then import cvs into that.
if you are using any old img, it wont b match to your radio type, and error on upload to radio.
