[chirp_users] Tone squelch QYT KT-7900D
Hi all!
New member of the list, new user of Chirp and new user of the QYT KT-7900D.
Before i received my KT-7900D i read "somewhere" on the internet that a user of this radio had the issue that he can only hear what is happening on the air when he uses the Monitor. Scanning stops whenever there is a signal, but the squelch doesn't open. I thought it had something to do with the radio expecting a receive tone as well to get open the squelch, but i'm not sure what exactly he did to fix this. Was that on this list? I have the same issue.
Ton.
Change from TSQL to Tone should solve the problem.

Seems to me you have TSQL set. That means the radio is expecting the repeater to transmit a tone. Either it isn’t sending a tone, or the radio is expecting a different tone than what it’s getting. Try setting the frequency to TONE. The radio will transmit the tone to activate the repeater, but will hear all responses back. I mentioned this before, but did not catch if you tried the change or not.

Nope. All is set to Tone, not to TSQL.

Give me an example of a repeater you are trying to access?

Have you checked the per-channel "Optional signaling" setting (see below) to make sure it is set to "OFF"?
To view/edit the "extra" per-channel settings right click a memory row, choose "Properties" and then select the "Other" tab.
Jim KC9HI
That was the one!!! Thank you VERY much!!

As others have suggested, you appear to have settings wrong associated with squelch.
In Chirp, TONE set to Tone only if the repeater needs it.
Also, something in your menu system sets squelch sensitivity and might need reducing.
