Is there a way to put a link in the chirp software to check for updates from the program?
If this option is considered, please have the ability to turn ON/OFF.

There are tons of software that alert of updates. All that I know especially operating system software like Java and Flash all give you the options of just notify of available updates, automatically update, or do not check for updates. I could mention maybe a dozen Windows apps, OS-X apps, and the most updates I've ever seen in my life are Android apps from Google Play store. It seems that every time I turn my phone or tablet on there are updates available. but even on these devices you still get the option to opt - out of automatic updates. My choice is to just be reminded there is an update and to close the dialog box and select remind me later, when I might be in a better position to have the update happen and after I have done some data mining as to any problems with these updates. I would bet the farm if an auto update feature was added to Chirp, these same amenities would be afforded to the end user.

You want the software to check for updates on its own and pop up on your screen with a download link. Might be nice but a bookmark in your browser bar to the download link isn't that difficult. Do you get email alerting you of these daily build updates? They aren't considered an update to the latest stable release but they are 99.9% of the time stable. And will often have new features the latest stable release does not.

I use a package manager (apt) to check for updates for all of my software. This program notifies me whenever there are updates available in the chirp-daily ppa or for any of my other software. It seems like better design to let one program check for updates system-wide than to add an internal update checker to conceivably every piece of software on the system.
I'm not a Windows user so I'm not familiar how Windows solves this problem, but they must have a solution. It's a problem faced by all software.

I would like it to check 2 weeks after the Daily Build comes out. That way if the Daily Build has an bug, it has enough time to be withdrawn before I download it. :- }
