There are tons of software that alert of updates. All that I know
especially operating system software like Java and Flash all give
you the options of just notify of available updates, automatically
update, or do not check for updates. I could mention maybe
a dozen Windows apps, OS-X apps, and the most updates I've
ever seen in my life are Android apps from Google Play store. It
seems that every time I turn my phone or tablet on there are updates
available. but even on these devices you still get the option to opt - out
of automatic updates. My choice is to just be reminded there is an update
and to close the dialog box and select remind me later, when I might be
in a better position to have the update happen and after I have done
some data mining as to any
problems with these updates. I would bet
the farm if an auto update feature was added to Chirp, these same amenities
would be afforded to the end user.
