[chirp_users] Baofeng BF-F8+ Compatibility
Can anyone tell me if this is compatible yet (BF-F8+)? I haven't gotten it to work with chirp for the last year or two that I've had it? Works perfect with the UV-5RA
The Chirp web site says it is. https://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Baofeng_UV5R_Variants

Yeah, so what is the deal then? Same cable, same machine, same chirp? Am I selecting the wrong menu item for radio? On Saturday, August 25, 2018, 5:43:41 PM EDT, Tom Consodine ND5Y via chirp_users chirp_users@intrepid.danplanet.com wrote:

I once tried programming A BF-F8 failed partial way through several times. 3 cables, 3 computers. 2 friends same thing. Something in the model. Sent back and out of honestly about 25 UV-5R and the new UV-5RHP, the HP is the best for $40! Also, use this cable.BTECH PC03 FTDI Genuine USB Programming Cable for BTECH 20.46 on Amazon. ALL the so called Baofeng cables suck! They work here n there and the SLIGHTEST movement of the usb cable will trigger a failure to program. Hi E M,
Unfortunately you haven't mentioned what the error message is so the best thing I can do is guess. A common problem of these radios is poor positioning of the socket in the case. Most likely, this is causing the 2-pin plug of known working programming cable to not fully engage in the socket of the radio. A common workaround is to put some pressure on the 2-pin plug in an effort to get it to become fully engaged during the cloning process.
