[chirp_users] Radio did not respond error
Baofeng UV-5X3Cable PCO3 Had to get drivers to get to this stage but radio does not respond. Do the red and green lights on cable usb end have to remain on or just flash on when you plug in. Computers is a HP windows 7.Paul KB2VEC
Hi Paul, I cannot tell you about the light, as I cannot see mine, but my first question is, did you install the driver before plugging in the cable? If you don't, Windows will install what it thinks is the right driver, and it may not be right. If this is the case, delete the device driver for the device, and reinstall the one that came with your device. Then I would unplug the device, reboot, and reinstall the driver, and then plug in the cable. HTH. I had this cable and never did get it to work. I through it away and bought to Wouxun cable. It can be used for the same radios and always works the first time everyone. I have recommended the Wouxun cable to others as well. It beats playing around with unreliable prolific or other cables.

I assume this is the Baofeng Tech FTDI cable. My tests here shows that on a system that does not have an FTDI driver installed, it can take up to 8 minutes for the driver auto installed by Windows to be fully installed. If you try to use the programming cable prior to this time, the cloning attempt will fail.
If you downloaded a driver to use instead of the Windows supplied driver, you did get it from ftdichip.com? I've known some that mistakenly downloaded and installed the Prolific driver which does nothing for programming cable with and FTDI chip.

If Device Manager shows your cable to be Prolific, roll your driver back to 3.2.0.0. Also make sure cable is FIRMLY oushed in to the radio.

I don't think he has a cable problem. He is using Baeofeng and not Beech programming .

Paul,
Your radio is not a Baofeng UV-5X3. It is a BTECH UV-5X3. You have to choose BTECH as the vendor, not Baofeng.
