[chirp_users] Rig Settings
I'm not seeing where the program allows to receive/send the radio settings to the rig other than the basics. Is that correct? Thanks

It would help us answer the question if we knew what the "rig" was?
Jim KC9HI
The two in question are older....Yaseu VX-7R and Icom IC-2700H. I actually have and use the vendor software, but have been playing with Chirp. Thanks

On CHIRP, the settings show up on the very left side of the screen, usually by clicking a box right below 'memories' or 'channels' (I forget what term is used. For the VX-7, you can also use the VX-7 Commander software found at www.kc8unj.com. It is a free program.

The left side "box" for both of my radios only shows the "banks" options.
I have, and have used, the VX7 Commander software for years, and also have the Icom software for my 2 2720's, so I can do what I need for my radios. However, I'm trying to help others in our Club who do not have these brands and am trying to figure this all out. I recently did a presentation for our club on Chirp, and the rig settings question came up there. Since the basics are already set anyway it is not a necessity, but I was interested. Chirp in conjunction with Repeater Book is pretty powerful stuff and I'm enjoying playing with it.
I gather that for some newer brands the rig settings option IS available? Thanks!

The "rig settings" that are support by CHIRP varies by what setting the radio has available and by what the developer(s) for that radio decided to implement. It seems that the developer(s) for the radios you have only chose to support the most basic per-channel settings plus the bank settings.
The CHIRP repository has CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) files saved there for many of the CHIRP supported radios models. All you have to do is download a few of the many images (106) for the most popular radio models. Loading any of them into your copy of CHIRP will allow you to see the "rig settings" that are supported by each image.
Loading the image for the BTech UV-5X3 would demonstrate CHIRP's support for this radio by displaying 6 tabs of settings (nearly every feature that can be manipulated using software).
