Jim,
Did you get an answer to your question? I didn't see one if you did. Did you buy one or thinking about it? Pretty good looking radio for $300.

Yes chirp will work with the anytone at588uv. But have to make sure to download and use the daily build install. I use it all the time on my anytone. The only downfall is chirp will just do frequency add/change only and doesn't have the menu settings tab for the radio as the free anytone qps software does. Try downloading the data currently in the radio and using that as your template for changes.

Jim,
Have your read the manual for the program?
How it is supposed to work is:
1) You download your radio's memories using CHIRP. 2) You edit using a spread sheet program, such as OpenOffice, LibreOffice or MicroSoft Office, saving as the same type file that you opened. 3) Uploading to the radio with CHIRP the changed file.
Can you confirm that you've done this?

I am a Chirp developer and step 2 is new to me! Just use Chirp's built-in editor. You're much less likely to break stuff that way--you'll even get appropriate error messages if you enter something impossible (like an HF frequency for a 2m rig).

OK, so now to figure out your problem:
OK, I loaded the 'Daily Build' and found the radio (58888uv) but when I try to
enter a frequency I get the message "Invalid Value for this Field/list assignment index out of range". What have I missed? 73, Jim
Common reasons are incorrect format.
How about you just change the field slightly, say 20 kHz, does it accept the change? Or cut the value and then paste the same value in th esame cell?
