[chirp_users] Can't find Com Ports on Windows 10
How do I find the Com Ports on Windows 10?
Get the following error message "could not open port COM3: [Error 2] The system cannot find the file specified."
Trying to connect to re program a Yaesu FT 50.
Open Device manager then plug in your interface cable. Look at what changes!

With the cable attached and radio connected, assuming the proper driver is installed, you would check the device manager snd click on COM ports to see the currently connected serial devices.
The easiest way to call up the device manager is to simply have Win10 search for it by typing "device manages" on the search field on the task bar across the bottom of the screen.

That did it.
Shows the cable plugged into Com 4. How do I change it to COM 3?

Just change where chirp is attempting to access the radio.
Unless there's a different reason to change the port number. In my experience, changing the USB port that you're plugged into is the only way to change the assignment.

This is one of those "if you have to ask how to change it, you probably ought to leave it alone" situations. But on the "Port Settings" tab of the device in Device Manager that you want to edit you would choose the [Advanced] button which would bring up a panel that would allow you to adjust the COM Port Number. But you would only be able to choose COM3 if COM3 is still available. If COM3 has already been assigned to another device, then you would not be able to choose it. You would have to change the other device's COM port from COM3 to another available COM port to make COM3 available for your programming cable.

CHIRP now recognizes Port.
When I try to write to the radio I get the following:
Failed to communicate with the radio: Radio did not ack block 1.
What is the sequence for starting the download? Do I hold any buttons while powering up?

This sounds like cable/radio interface.
Many radios (or is it just Baofeng) have issues with the connector into the radio. Press it into the radio harder and see if that helps.

My comment was based on the presumption that Chirp could see multiple ports, and was simply defaulting to the wrong one.
